🏈 Went to the Sugar Bowl and heres my thoughts

First, Oklahoma fans can kiss my ass. If I hear Boomer Sooner again I will puke. I figured them to be gracious winners, not the case. Walking down Bourbon Street, during the game, after the game and so forth was like getting my teeth extracted one by one every hour on the hour. They can put up "crazy Bama lady" you tube vids up all they want, they are a bunch of rub it in you lost Bama, homers. Literally got right in your ear as you walked buy hollering BS.

On Oklahoma the team.. They just flat put it on Bama, they exposed the weakness of our defense, hurried up the offense and contained our pass rush. We need some big guys stuffing that front again or change our defensive strategy. I was impressed with their QB Knight, he hung tough and threw some good deep balls. My fat ass could of caught what he threw. He was on target for most the night.

Bama, Turnovers after turnovers after turnovers. Get to the ten, fumble it, get a turnover from OK, we turn it over right back. Henry was our bright spot. At the end of the game going down the ramp outside the Superdome, the Bama faithful started the FSU war chant, which I found pretty funny. Food was good as usual. Bama fans seemed to take this loss in stride.

In the end I aged 75 years watching that game, grew to dispise the OK fan base, but respect the team, good luck to the players that are declaring for the NFL Draft.

With Bama fans chanting S-E-C, S-E-C, S-E-C in the first quarter don't you think their attitudes at the end of the game were self-inflicted? If I'm not clear with that question...don't you think some simply brought it on themselves?

I was in New Orleans for New Years, they were full of themselves before, during, and after. I was not chanting SEC at any time during the game. Those that did were stupid for chanting it I admit, probably deserved the humbling. I am the type that takes everything in, I watch our fans as much as theirs. The wide spread OU shit far outweighed our idiotic fans. I swear I wanted to drop a few of them. One guy before the game even started was hollering War Eagle. It was more along the lines that they were tired of Alabama's success than anything. Like I said before, OK as a team I respect, they did what it took to win, the fans that rubbed it in like they did pfffftttttt.

i thought it was pretty bad from the lsu fans down there in 2012. but hearing some on here it seems as ok fans are right up there with them, maybe even a bit worse.

People talk about not attending games because they've been priced out of reach. Other's mention it's just as enjoyable watching it in HD. Experiences like yours is a reason I feel some avoid attending games. Why put yourself in the situation where you leave feeling like you do today, ya know?

Met plenty of OU fans before and after the game. All seemed friendly and wore a big smile which I was envious of the following day.

Never met an OU fan I liked. I worked with one when Bama played them in '02/'03. He was arrogant before both games and even worse after.

In the gamne in Tuscaloosa I had a few sitting behind us that nearly got into a fight with several fans around us. As a season ticket holder I have seen the same Bama fans put up with Auburn, UGA, LSU, Tenn, and have no issues.

The OU fans I spoke with before the game were nice. I guess because they were closer to my age. The younger crowd was a different story! Screaming Boomer Sooner as you walked by. I thought that before the game that there was a mutual respect between the programs and our traditions were similar. We didn't venture down Bourbon Street after the game, because I knew some of our more inebriated fans would get into a few altercations with their crazies!! Getting too old to deal with that shit! As for the game, we were simply outplayed! I think the OU players felt they were slighted from the time the pairing was announced and it just festered up in them. Can't say I blamed them! Our team looked like we had no energy even with the quick score to start the game. I honestly felt like the wind vanished from our sails on the kick return at "the disaster in the pasture". We had SO MUCH to play for leading up to that moment and it was all gone afterwards. It didn't matter what CNS said or what he had Dr. Elko get up and ay to them. Our guys were uninspired! We looked like we tried to flip the switch to start the 3rd but the whole was too deep. We looked like we tried to distribute the ball TOO MUCH instead of feeding 1 or 2 guys consistently.

i put a lot of that on how they are raised. as for me and my (personal) friends who are 'BAMA fans, we were all raised to be respectful and nice and both win and lose with class.

i don't talk trash. never have, never will. i will defend my team, me coaches, my friends and my family. but i will never just start talking trash just for the heck of it.

i'm a member of another forum (non-'BAMA related, but there is college football section) with several thousand members. obviously there are quite a few college football fans on there. and they range from div. 1 down to div 3. and as usual, there are a couple who love to talk trash before every game. i got into it with one guy when he started talking crap about Coach Saban and the team. he's a clemson fan so right away i don't like him. so i lay into him pretty harsh and he starts giving it back saying that, "i musta woke up on the wrong side of the bed." and to "cool off, man. i'm just talking trash." i politely let him know that i don't talk trash and that i will defend my team and my coaches against anyone saying anything falsely negative about them. so he tells me that talking trash is part of the game and that if i can't handle it maybe i shouldn't watch football anymore. i told him that talking trash isn't part of the game and that i never do it and think it's classless when anyone does. that pretty much ended it right there. he's not a bad person (from what i can tell) and we've had several conversations on there while being cordial and nice to each other. but i refuse to let anyone get in my face (like lsu fans down on bourbon street in 2012) and get away with it. but other than that, i just let it roll of my back and ignore the ignorant. it's the easiest thing to do.

Well, I have been to many, many, many, Bama games. Bowl games, regular games and such, have experienced some shit fan bases, but I have to say the OU fan base is up there. Like uagrad93 said, the older ones were fine, it was the punk ass younger ones that set the bar. I won't let any fan base keep me from going to see my boys, but as you said Terry, prices, comfort of home, and punks from both sides really make it hard not to snap. On a side note, I love the city of New Orleans and go there often, so it usually evens out in the end.

Never met any OU fans. Only chatted with them online. I think they're like us- classy for the most part, few bad apples that make us all look bad. I've only been in N.O for one game in my life time and it will be the last. Utah 09. Too many people there with liquid courage that want to start some shit.
