I knew field position, turnovers, and special teams would decide this game. Our miserable special teams play, particularly our kickers finally bit us on the azz as i suspected it would several weeks ago. Saban shocked me with the FG attempts knowing just how poor they were at making them from that range, frankly I just dont get it. We were beat by a better team tonight. Our defense played lights out......just awesome. Offense = missed opportunities. Hats off to LSU.

I don't know that LSU is the better team. The score board says so but I think those teams are about even. Although the bonehead play of the game has to be on Maze when he didn't fair catch that punt. Geez...

He had no business whatsoever being in the game as injured as he was.

i have heard rumors that the ball hit the camera wires which is why maze didnt catch it.

im surprised that no one has cmplained about saban running the clock out at the end of the game. we should/could have gotten the ball back with about 1:20 on the clock. we let the clock run down..playing for over time rather than going for the win. with the way the game was you had to think that overtime was going to come down to a field goal battle...if that the case why not try to move the ball and let you kicker try (have a chance) to win it before going to overtime. we left two TO's on the board with plenty of time on the clock.

i know some will say we could have thrown an interception trying to move the ball or whatever....but i say championship teams go out to win the game not play for a tie.

Ball hitting the camera wires was what Maze said in an interview. When he went to the sideline, Saban was getting ready to ream him out, and instead listened to him and then walked away. Whatever Maze told him appeared to change Saban's perspective on it.

Saban and/or the OC lost confidence in AJ's ability to make longer or difficult throws as the game wore on.

LSU was playing conservatively as well before they punted to us, playing for overtime.

yep i don't think it was maze's leg, he said in interview the ball hit the camera wire and threw him off so he thought he should let it go then try to field it and muff it, and a reporter told him that it could've been ruled a dead ball but i guess he didn't say anything soon enough. i don't know.
