🏈 Well, can't say I'm shocked. Andre hurting at pro-day...

In fairness to Andre, what you saw there is basically what he was for his entire three year stint at Bama. He never has had that chiseled body that some of the others have achieved. Yet in spite of that he was a dominant player at his position in a tough league. The forty time isn't much of a measure for an OL. When will that matter? If he's chasing someone after an int he isn't likely to catch him anyway. I'm not sure what the bench press indicates, but this lift is a lot harder for guys with long arms, such as Andre, than it would be for a sorter, stockier guy. Andre's asset as on OL is his agility and movement, and I believe he would do well on lower body strength were that measured. Sure, he could have gotten in better shape for this workout, but the blogs which talked about him weighing 370-380 were all wet. He weighed in at 325. He was an easy target, and the guys who wanted to trash him certainly did so.

We shall see if NFL GMs and coaches are as "fair" to Andre on draft day. Me thinks not.

At least he's not on the suspect list for steroids. :D

lol. good point.

I think that he tried very hard to drop some of the weight that he had at the Combine, that he had to sacrifice some strength(19 reps @ 225). I think he still showed quickness with his forty and explosiveness with his vertical jump. IMO he was probably more concerned with having worse times and measurement in those than strength. I'm dissappointed with his decisions of late but I hope he has a long and successful career.

I don't think anyone wishes him anything but success, but his behavior, if nothing else, is creating a big PR problem for him that he doesn't need, Never mind how he's throwing his draft potential into the crapper.

Even if there is a reasonable explanation for this behavior, a young player doesn't need to come into an NFL training camp with a reputation for being selfish and lazy. Whether it's true or not, that's the way it will be perceived by his team mates. They ain't going to go back and watch Crimson Tide game film to judge how good of a player he is.

It's disappointing to watch a kid blow such a golden opportunity.

I've decided I know why Andre left early...because he's a tad lazy and Saban makes you work and Andre decided that he was tired of having to work that hard.

I wish him luck in his future endeavors, but I can't help, but say to myself....good riddance.

Glad to hear that JPW, Caldwell, and Johnson had a great pro day. Seems some them took it seriously.

Trying to think like a NFL GM causes me to ponder the following.

If Smith is so personally undisciplined as he appears to be as he PREPARES to put himself in position to receive a multi-year contract with many multiple millions of dollars on the line, what makes me think he will be any more personally disciplined AFTER given such a contract?

I keep reaching back to Saban's comments to Smith. Does Smith want to be good or does he want to be great? Thus far, I see nothing in his actions indicating the latter.

Still, he will probably go Top 12 and sign a contract guaranteeing eight-figures. But, what could have been.

Andre has never been regarded as a physically strong player. He has dominated because of his feet and technique... his work ethic is questionable, but I still think he will be an elite player at the next level.

Excellent point.

If he really falls (like late 1st round) someone is going to get a steal. I've always kinda had doubts that he could play LT in the NFL or maybe I should say i've doubted that he could be a dominant LT in the NFL. But this guy is a freaking nasty, disgusting run blocker and I'd be flat out shocked if he didn't turn out to be a pro bowl guard.
