🏈 Well, can't say I'm shocked. Andre hurting at pro-day...

Man I hate that. I was hoping he'd come out and surprise everyone. I don't understand why he didn't come more prepared, especially considering the $$$ at stake.

On a better note, I just read the Pro Day breakdown from BOL.com and it said that that Mount Cody was in attendance looking in the best shape he has since he's been on campus.

He left a year early for this...unbelievable.

I keep thinking back to the comments captured on tape from Saban to Smith that if Smith would work hard all the time and not just when he needed to the sky would be the limit for Smith.

Looking at the video of Smith from the workout, I get the impression he did not even work hard preparing for this day. He had less upper body definition than the Stay-Puff Marshmellow Man.

I hope he did not take too much advance money from his agent - otherwise Smith might end up owing the agent a refund from his first contract.

19 bench presses......thats not good for an O-lineman

I can do that 5 times (which i know isnt good, but still). Some guy did it something like 45 times at the combine.

If he hits the weight room, he can improve that of course. But, thats just a let down for me.

I hope that this sends a message to other players that being the best at what you do takes 24/7 dedication. That video of Saban talking to Andre on the field should be shown before every training camp, IMO.

In fairness to Andre, what you saw there is basically what he was for his entire three year stint at Bama. He never has had that chiseled body that some of the others have achieved. Yet in spite of that he was a dominant player at his position in a tough league. The forty time isn't much of a measure for an OL. When will that matter? If he's chasing someone after an int he isn't likely to catch him anyway. I'm not sure what the bench press indicates, but this lift is a lot harder for guys with long arms, such as Andre, than it would be for a sorter, stockier guy. Andre's asset as on OL is his agility and movement, and I believe he would do well on lower body strength were that measured. Sure, he could have gotten in better shape for this workout, but the blogs which talked about him weighing 370-380 were all wet. He weighed in at 325. He was an easy target, and the guys who wanted to trash him certainly did so.

Honestly, I'll still be surprised if he falls any lower than middle of the the first round. Depsite his bad workouts, these teams still have to look at what he did while at Bama and IMO is more important than any drill. The guy was dominant, and the NFL teams will not forgot that.

I may be wrong, but I would have thought his agent should have been all over his ass to get a trainer, get in shape and be at 120% when the combines begin. I think his agent said to just relax...you'll be a top 5/10 pick in the draft, which is where the big money is. The NFL, IMO, does not give two sh*ts about how you did in college LAST YEAR. This is the BIG TIME, and you better be ready to perform if you want to be paid. It's like a job interview, and Andre's performance would most likely land him in the mail room if he was interviewing for a real job. Raw talent will only take you so far. At some point, you have to put in the hours.

Watching the NFL network last night had to be brutal if you were Andre. They ripped him apart for his workout. I believe it was Mike Mayock who said his workout was very disappointing. They did say in this case you go back to game tape and look at what he did and he's still projected in the top 10 of the draft, but whoever takes him will be taking a chance with him because of what seems to be a real lack of dedication.

Another note, they said that Caldwell, Wilson & Johnson all had really good days and really improved their standing for the draft, especially JPW.

We shall see if NFL GMs and coaches are as "fair" to Andre on draft day. Me thinks not.
