i'm sure this has been discussed in other threads, but i haven't attended a game in roughly 10 years.

i will attend saturdays game with my 9 year old daughter and my elderly father who does not get around very well.

i was wanting some suggestions of things to do before the game that were easily accessable.. is the bear bryant museum very crowded on game days?.. what are some good places to eat before the game that aren't packed out.. and what takes place outside the stadium..

if these topics are covered elsewhere i will be happy to visit old threads.. thanks.

4&1.......with an elderly father that does not get around good, it will really cramp your style. There is quite a bit of walking in order to get to what all you might want to do.

There is a ton of kid stuff to do on the quad usually. Rock wall climb, Inflatable junk for them to play in, etc. The band will show up on the Gorgas library steps 2 hours before kick-off to play....or you can go over to the north end of the stadium and walk in at the Walk of Champions. You can't do both...They take place at the same time...give or take 10 minutes or so. The museum is usually full on game days. With this being the first game of the year....it will be very full more than likely. To really take in every thing I would go early. You could try to go before noon and go the museum and possibly park close to it. Then maybe move elsewhere, but that would be a pain in the butt. Just keep in mind every thing is a pretty good walk. I would plan the museum and then the quad. You can let your girl play around out on the quad and the Bama Bookstore has a huge tent and always have someone signing autographs and stuff for sale. All along the east side of the quad are food trailers. O'charley's, Papa Johns, and a few others.

May not be the best thing, but I'm thinking with your dad it would be the least amount of work for him to get to take in the fun of everything with the least amount of walking. There will be plenty of shade and you can probably get the most out of the day by staying on the quad.

The Quad gets my vote. Take some folding chairs, a cooler and your own food and just chill and read the program. There will be plenty of people to talk to, and all of your stuff can be left during the game. I wouldn't leave money of course, but the cooler and chairs should be fine. There's plenty for the kiddies to do, as mentioned earlier. It's also the cheapest (by far) place to get any Bama gear you may want. Have fun!

thanks... last time my dad went to a bama game it was at legion field.. he will be in for a shock i'm sure..
