I am a vocal critic and the most realistic person you will ever meet, ESPECIALLY about football............But I don't seem to be as critical of Bama's performance as some. I view the mistakes as first game jitters, youth, a new QB, etc........I am not sure why people are overly concerned about mistakes that will work themselves out as the teams gels the next few weeks.

It was obvious to everyone who the better team was. VT was only in the game from special teams and our own mistakes. The score was not a good indicator of the way the game went. I think a lot of the articles about us not executing is a little over blown at this early point in the season. :a:

A very good point and one I agree with wholeheartedly.

There is a bright spot from playing teams like VT. As good as they are, they'll take advantage of any weakness they find.

It's a learning experience for our staff as well as our team. Both will see the areas they need to improve on.

Great write up as usual Terry.

Victory. I like where your coming from and agree, a lot of the mistakes can be attributed to what you mention, first game jitters, etc.

I think that most of the disdain is from being so use to CNS teams being disciplined. I think we were in our 3rd game before we had 12 penalties last year.....maybe even the fourth game. Procedure penalties are very rare and are the type of mental mistakes that CNS works the team to avoid. That type stuff I think is why some of the questions. We all know our team is in good hands and these mistakes will be remedied.

Another post that's spot on.

Upchurch missed his lane, completely, and that led to their kick-return TD.

Late hits out of bounds. Mistake easily corrected.

OL penalties...young line together versus a very good DL.

Long run in the 4th...Barron out of position.

All mistakes, but all correctable.

Hell, if we can see that I KNOW the staff can as well.

Another great read Terry. Thanks.

It was a mix of fundamental errors and composure I saw during that game as well. Let's hope that watching G Mac mature right before our eyes continues for the whole season.

Great read Terry. You have to feel that there are things we need to work on, but to finish the game with a win against a solid team in VT and learn in the process is gold.

This learning experience is going to help us in SEC play. Roll Tide!!

Also, Good stuff from Victory, RamJam, 12gage, and Swamp.
