Some of these folks out west and up north are doing there dead level best to knock us out of the NC game. Now we need Oklahoma to put a whoopin on ok state to take them outta the picture. My question is does Oklahoma have the fire power to do it? Comments welcome

I think a big issue is 1/3 of the BCS puters have OK state at #2 and Bama at #3. And yes, there are a lot of 'human' voters that don't wanna see us in it. I still don't think we are a shoe-in, but we'll see.

LSU and Bama are so far ahead of the rest of the pack it's not even funny. Hell, it's so obvious that even Craig James is able to see it...wait, I'm not quite sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing that James agrees with us...:confused:

Brad Edwards (BCS guru for ESPN) said that if Va Tech wins the ACC, that will do a lot towards helping Bama into the BCSCG. I'm not sure how that works, but I did hear him say that on the BCS show. That is one of those things that, one more ally always helps in getting us in there. So Friday an either/or scenario is likely to help make sure we are a "lock"

I believe he was saying that anything that happens to split the votes between VaTech, Stanford and Okie St. would benefit Bama, like VaTech beating a deteriorating Clemson team or Okie St. barely getting by Oklahoma.

Who are "these folks" and how the hell do they, or you, think they have an impact on what happens with our team?

If the OK/Okst game is a blowout with OKST winning by a huge margin. They'd probably come withing a .02-.05 of Alabama IF Clemson also knocks of VT and unanimously selects OKST for 2, then they'd probably edge closer. Short of an intervention by voters to make it so there is no ALA vs LSU rematch, there is certainly no way to stop it really. 95%+ chance it will be Alabama vs LSU for the NCG

Why are you guys getting yourselves all worked up. Its not even close. Look at each poll individually.

Bama is #2 in both human polls
Ok St is #5 in both Human polls

AND

Bama is actually #2 in the computers, which we weren't last week.

Your telling me that both polls are gonna jump OK St 3 spots, ahead of the Solidly #2 team? A team that lost to Iowa State? Because they beat a 2 loss Oklahoma?

The only reason this is getting this much discussion is because its a rematch and its Bama.
If this was Oregon with 1 loss and Bama was out of the picture, no one would be upset with that rematch. Right?

Rece made a good point Saturday night as well.

There are 174 total voters between the Harris and the Coaches Poll. By their calcuations, 165+ voters had Bama at #2 in their poll.

80 members changing their mind? And, that would only put us in a split on votes and points.

With a win over OK and a VT loss, they'll be #3 at least, and if the computers begin to like them more again. It could be close. I personally think OK will make it a close game, causing the computers to vote down OKST and VT will win, causing a split vote between OKST and VT, making Bama solidly #2 next week for sure. That's just my opinion though

Oklahoma State putting a major "whuppin" on OSU would probably put them back ahead of us in the computer rankings. It would take that plus an amnesia epidemic among coaches poll voters and Harris poll voters (forgetting about OSU's embarassing loss to a mediocre Iowa State team) to give them enough traction to go past us in the final rankings. With that kind of amnesia about, Wheedon might win the Heisman too.

OU is so jekyll and hyde this year, its ridiculous. I'd love to tell you guys Oklahoma will kill osu, but I just don't know til after the first series or two which OU team will show up. If osu beats OU, then look out for everyone outside of SECville to vote osu in just because not too many people want a rematch game, plus a lot of people want to see a high powered offense go up against a great defense. Everyones already seen the great D vs. great D. Just saying'. I personally think Alabama deserves a rematch simply because everyone else lost. Bama lost to the top team, not a lesser team. I'm just a Sooner fan, my two cents mean nothing.

If only Bama's loss was as good as losing to Iowa State, wait.......

also, are the voters supposed to vote one who are #1 and #2 or are they supposed to take into account whether or not those teams have played each other before?

If they vote on something other than strictly who they think #1 and #2 are, thats a bigger problem then their not being a playoff.

The fact that this would be a rematch should be irrelevant to the voters.
