Calvin Ridley seemed to be channeling his inner Herm Edwards in the moments after the Crimson Tideās College Football Playoff victory on Monday night.
Instead of Edwardsā classic āYou play to win the gameā refrain, the talented Alabama WR opted for a similar theme when faced with a question he clearly did not want to answer after beating Clemson in the Sugar Bowl to advance to the national title game.
Ridley began his locker room media availability with a question about the progression of Alabama QB Jalen Hurts, who has quarterbacked the team to back-to-back national title game appearances in his first two years on campus while battling through constant critique of his passing skills.
āWe won the game,ā Ridley said, clearly annoyed by the line of questioning. āWe won the game today. Weāre happy right now. We just want to enjoy it right now.ā
To be fair to the reporter he shut down, Riley did not appear to be all that happy in that moment. Prior to fielding questions, he can be seen trying to shake someone off a phone call and his answers to the questions that followed were not exactly jovial.
