Any thoughts here? Dropped this down from the "read only" because I thought some of you would have some comments.

As for me, I think it woud be quite ironic if the 1966 team won this vote. Was a no brainer (and not just because most of them don't have any) for the aubies to vote their 2004 team as their best because they don't have a lot to choose from. But an "11th hour schedule change" (Citadel for BG) hurt their chances for a better fate, as did the "11th hour schedule change" (LaTech for Tulane) killed Bama's chances in 1966. LaTech was non 1A at the time, whereas Tulane was a member of the SEC untill June of 1966. Which is when Tulane asked to be let out of the scheduled 1966 game. So LaTech was almost a "12th hour schedule change". Bama was preseason #1 of course, being the two time defending NC. The voters had no intention of voting Bama a third straight NC, so when Bama opened with LaTech, that is all they needed to drop Bama from the top spot.
