I can't help myself, I almost got banned for getting a little carried away on and particular rival's message board and I had to stop myself and come back to earth. So anyway I went over to the "east side" again and I counted 9 yes 9 threads about firing a coach or some administrator at Polytech.
1.Poll: What are your expectations of an AUBURN headcoach
2.This just proves my point
3.Tuberville and Auburn's future (Long)
4.Some notes from the "Tuberville" meeting
5.Who's the new OC gona be?
6.Which coaches would you let go
7.Maybe A New DC Too
8.Life Lessons for CTT
9.looks like CTT will be back!
Now obviously, this does my heart a lot of good. You see, after watching Wingnut hold up five fingers, I thought to myself, "you know one day he is going to get his" and I guess karma has finally came back to haunt him. I read these posts and laugh. They are going through something similar to what we went through during the Shula era, some wanting to give another chance and others wanting to pump sunshine and keep staying the course. However, I am careful to not enjoy their misery too much, for I fear I will become like them and that is NEVER what I want.
But I also wanted to make another point. I have listened to how we can't win if we keep firing our coach for years. How that we somehow have/had unrealistic expectations. But let me once again sum up our past coaches really fast and lets see
Coach Stallings was here a while and a very stupid AD made him retire. No one ever said they wanted him gone.
Dubose. Stupid the the nth degree. Got caught with his secretary embarrassed the program. He will always hold a place in my heart though cause he did win some special games but he had to go.
Franphony. Jumped ship cause above coach got us put on probation. We didn't fire him he jumped ship on his own.
Price. Visa, Hookers, End of Story.
Shula. Not going back down this road but yall remember what happened.
So my point is this, with the exception of Shula, we really didn't fire any of the above coaches. We certainly haven't fired a coach that went undefeated. I just don't get how Tennessee and Auburn get a free pass on this when they are firing or talking about firing coaches that have proven they can win. I don't know what happened to Fulmer, and I don't know whats happened to Wingnut, and I really don't care. Just don't tell me the we are "delusional" when it comes to coaching expectations.
