🏈 Video: TEXTANTIC- The mediocrity of Texas football

At what point will the national pundits begin to say, "Strong is over his head?"

At what point will the national media begin to point out, "there are too many cooks in the kitchen?"

Reassigning coaches after game one of the season screams "I don't have control." It seems like a knee-jerk reaction to me. But then again, I don't follow the Texas program.

"The expectation level is high at the University of Alabama and it should be. What's wrong with people expecting excellence?" -- Former Alabama coach Gene Stallings.

"The expectation level is low at the University of Texas and it should be. What's wrong with people expecting mediocrity?" --

Wish Swoopes would have went to TCU.

Meanwhile, Mack Brown went on record saying he has no responsibility for the current state of Texas football. There is some truth to that, as this is Charlie's team now and has been for a year, but then again, Mack's mess created the hiring of Charlie.

I think we all know that ALabama broke Tejas football, Mac Brown and Cote.

That dumpster fire is Mack's creation. Charlie Strong, I think, can fix it if given time. If message board heat is any indication he had better show a lot of improvement this year. Otherwise there will be a knee jerk firing, and probably another round of 'Saban to Texas' rumors

You're closer to these guys than I am. So, you're more than willing to ask for change back after I offer my .02 worth.

It seems to me that Strong came in with this air of bravado, discipline, and a tough standard for behavior. He "backed that up" in the first few weeks with kicking several players out of the program.

After that, it appears a lot of what he said he was doing and how the program would be ran ... well, wasn't backed up.

I get the impression of a boss that says, "do it my way or your fired." While that boss may be right, it doesn't engender any respect and seldom "rights a ship."

i like how PROGRAM ALERT pops up during one of the beatings on the ticker below.

I would give this coach the benefit of the doubt though yall. He inherited a steaming pile of crap and had to ferumigate the program upon arrival. I wouldn't remove him for at least 4 years.

Texas's problems are similar to Alabama's back right after Coach Bryant gave up the reigns; too many good ole boys thinking they are a part of the solution when in fact, they are a part of the problem. And nobody there will reign them in. They are running amok and it will literally take years to clean up that mess. I think Charlie made a start last year, got some support, but now they want to go back to the same old ways since they saw a little improvement last season. So it's two steps forward and one step back. Good luck, Charlie, you're gonna need it. It's even money now whether they turn the corner before they run Strong out of there. But couldn't happen to a nicer program, they brought it all upon themselves. I hope they enjoy the dumpster fire they created.

Chuckleacious video

I like Strong as a coach. I think he f'ed up going to Texas. Mack ran it in the ground. Sumlin is feasting on the recruits and I think the program is in a cannibalistic cycle that will burn through Strong and at least one more coach before they reach that point of lying naked and cold on the hard floor of reality.

There is still an allure to texas football though and if they keep losing, it won't be because there weren't good players. I think they have got to build a foundation running the ball and hitting hard on defense. PERIOD.

Takes some notes from what ole miss has done on defense with not much more talent relatively. they hit like they want to kill. that makes a bit difference in a game like a notre dame. i knew after watching 20 seconds of that game that the domers would win just because of how their defense was hitting.
