Foster was referring to his defense's play, not their abysmal offense, a receiver quitting on a route that enabled Vinnie's Pick 6, our great execution on the punt return, or VaTech's poor tackling that aided the KO return for a TD. He was referring to holding our offense to 206 total yards (about 46 percent of last year's average), 96 yards rushing (42 percent of last year's average), and 11 first downs (about half of last year's average as well). No team has held us to fewer rushing yards since the 2010 season.
His defense played well, and if they show up like this each week they will be very successful in ACC play. I believe they will correct their poor special teams play. They need to fix that train wreck of an offense, which is going to be their hardest task, particularly against teams who handle their running game.
