🏈 Utah investigating the BCS

I agree with you Psychojoe. Utah should schedule 1 big name non conference game at a neutral site as we did and will do next season. They could still play a big name on the road each season too. Keep their conference schedule as is and it would add to their potential for getting some national respect. They have my respect since they kicked our tails.
I agree with Redandwhite when he said that no one knew Michigan would tank it and that schedules are done often 5-6 years in advance.

Regarding Utah and their schedule...

First off, I think the anti-trust suit by the state of Utah is kind of a knee jerk reaction.

I do believe that the game of football is decided on the field and not by tons of banter claiming "we are the best".

I read that the reason Utah is not the best is because they do not schedule the type of teams that would instantly legitimize them. You guys are right. Utah does not play that kind of schedule BECAUSE they do not get the opportunity to. I do not see a single SEC team offering a home and home or even a single game.
Why is that? When we play teams like Michigan, it is not our fault that they were in their first game of the first season by RR. They blew. We still get posts saying how Michigan almost beat us. We were leading 24-10 in the first half. We wilted in the second but we still won.

The fact is that teams really do not want to schedule us. Not because we are so good but because they think it is beneath their school to play a team like Utah.
Hell, they will schedule Southern Northern Eastern Louisiana...but not Utah. Why? Because no one wants to start the season with either A)a team that has the possibility of winning B) the ability to start out with certain wins against truly dog schools because everyone will forget they beat a dog school and it is a great way for the potential perfect season or C) They feel Utah does not have what it takes to be meaningful.

Would Utah beat Alabama 10 out of 10 games? No!!! I bet they would win at least 5 out of 10 if they were
the same class of team as the 08 team was.

You can all say that Alabama is well beyond us or LSU or any Big 12 or Big 10 school. The truth is that recruiting has really changed and the great athletes are really all over the place. Not the special athletes but smart and successful DI A schools know what to look for. There is not much of a difference between 5 star and 3 star recruits anymore. Visibility is the only difference.

Play us again. It would be an honor!

Additionally to Bamadezz: I played DIA baseball and I never saw a team whose heart was not in the game. Not on the college level unless they sucked and knew they were going to lose. You should really think about your team if you really feel their hearts were not in it. They may have thought Utah was going to be an easy game but they damn well looked dazed. I imagine that being the amazing athletes that I know they are, they had their hearts in it but it was Utah's day.

Listen, I enjoyed having the Utah fans over on the board... most of them were good guys. And to go along with that their team whooped our's up and down the field in the Sugar Bowl. BUT, if you want be considered for a National Championship it is required that you play a tough schedule. If strength of schedule was not important than SEC schools could all schedule cup cakes and we'd have about 15 undefeated teams.

Utah has a really good team...but there is no way to judge how good they really are because they did not play a tough schedule. Their problem, not the BCS's...if they want to be considered for championships then they need to schedule tougher out of conference opponents...until they start to do this, they can go undefeated 5 seasons in a row and at the end of each they will still come up short.

Utah had a really good team, we cannot argue with that...but it's their own fault for having that kind of schedule...their biggest name that they played was Michigan (traditionally strong...but VERY weak as of late). Beating Alabama is too little, too late to warrant a National Championship IMO.

Rick, the Utes would do well to study how FSU rose to national prominence. Granted, they were an independent when this started, but they literally would play any of the big guys who would play them. Home/away if they could get it, but if they couldn't thet did home/away/away or even away/away. By the late eighties and early nineties, after some surprose wins over big name teams and had earned the right for home/away with anyone. The ACC did not make FSU prominent in football. They were the best football team in the ACC the day they joined.

Enough Utah, give me a break. There is no way they could beat Fla. if they were able to play them. Get over it already. They feel like they deserve a NC because they beat us? Sorry guys, I don't see it.

Utah, it's time to move on and stare at your Sugar Bowl trophy...it's all your getting!

I'm glad you can say that for sure. Were you saying that about our game as well? Because, a lot of people were.

They just beat us like we stole something from them, and you say there is no way they can play with Florida? Why? Is Florida that much ahead of us?

They have a very good argument, but I don't like the way they are going about it...

Yes, I will stand by my comment. They could not beat Florida if they were faced against them. Now about us, not sure what happened last Fri. All I know is that's not the team I watched play all season. We had an honest chance to beat UF, and let it slip away. I honestly don't believe most of their hearts were in the game against Utah. Was it the Andre distraction, who knows what it was. We may never know.

I'm not knocking Utah, they played a great game. They looked impressive...compared to us, in that game. I watched them play some Christian college in a replayed game they aired a few days before they played us and to be honest, they weren't that impressive. Emotions played a big part of this game in my opinion. I feel like Utah wanted it WAY more then our team, sorry. They had a point to prove.

Emotion aside, Florida would wear them down in the end and beat em down. I could be wrong, just an opinion.

Oh btw, I was saying that about our game with Florida. I honestly knew in the back of my heart, we were fighting an uphill battle against Florida. My wife can tell you how much I worried about that Florida game. I was worried about them long before the match was setup. I called them and Bama in the SEC championship when everyone was saying it'd be Bama/UGA early on. After the loss, it was almost a relief as much as a heart breaker.

Some Christian college = 11th ranked (at the moment, will be top 10 at the end...) TCU I am assuming?

If Utah played Florida, would I take Utah? No. But, I will say that I think they can play with anyone in the country.

No doubt, I never said they weren't a good team. They are, my point was, they couldn't beat the Gators if they played them this season. As you stated, "If Utah played Florida, would I take Utah? No." So it's obvious to you and me, they would lose. No disrespect, but that's all I was saying, they don't deserve a NC, they wouldn't be able to beat the Gators, who by the looks of it right this minute are well on their way to a NC. That said, I'm sure it would be a great game, Utah vs. Fla. There's loads of speed between the two and it would be interesting to watch. In the end though, the Gators would wear them down.

That's all, I'm done with this. I refuse to argue over a team I could care less about. Your opinion is as good as my opinion, neither of them are gonna change anything.

Have a nice day and I didn't mean to come off like a jerk.
