"...the new Chick-fil-A College Kickoff in Atlanta is quickly establishing itself as a prime-time reincarnation of the old Kickoff and Pigskin Classics. (Organizers have already booked Tennessee and NC State for 2012.)"

Why? Why? Why?

Why would anyone care about this matchup?

The Atlanta Sports Council never intended for the game to become an ACC/SEC match up, but so far they have been unable to get away from that scenario. As you are probably aware, they were talking to UCLA about the 2010 game, but that fell through when the barn would not play them and they would not play UGA or GT. They are talking to USC about the 2013 or 2014 game, and USC is receptive to playing either year. The ASC President, Gary Stokan is a NCSU grad(see link) so that would explain them being in the 2012 game. Only he and the Lord knows why ut is the opponent.
