🏈 'Urban legend': You're all wet if you think Meyer comes close to Bear Bryant

A big surge into the college football world doesnt come close to twenty years of football dominance.

Now if his success lasts the next 5-10 years, I will consider it.

As far as attitude, I was born after the Bear, but from what ive heard and seen from both, it is completely different.

PS: I was gonna read the full article until I saw Paul Finebaum's picture. I am not reading anything that man writes, even if its about something I agree with..

LEt's not forget the Bear's ability to adjust as the game changed - read, when he switched to the wishbone after starting to struggle and winning three more national titles (should have been four) with it. I'll be more impressed with Meyer after three things occur:

- first, let's see how he does when Tebow is gone. Finebaum is right - the guy is once in a lifetime. How good is Florida without him the past three years?
- second, let's see how he does without the number one or two recruiting classes handed to him on a platter - like this year and last.
- third, let's see how he adjusts when SEC coaches (like Defensive genius Saban) REALLY learn how to control the spread offense. It all goes in cycles and it will happen.

Bear Bryant faced a crossroads at the end of the 60s with mediocre records and a predictable offense. He made a RADICAL change in adopting the wishbone and won THREE more national champhionships with it (should have been four!). Let's see if Coach Meyer not only has the courage but the coaching genius to make a RADICAL change in offensive philosophy AND win three national championships with it when the spread is stopped. I highly doubt he has that skill. I believe he lives and dies with the spread and needs a Tebow more than people realize.

Time will "Bear" it out.
