SI ranked the top 42 NON-conference games for the upcoming football season.

WE were blessed to be in the TOP 5

5. ALABAMA vs. CLEMSON (in Atlanta) Aug. 30th
Every once in a while, a non-conference game is just plain interesting. If Clemson is the power team it's supposed to be, it keeps the Alabama four-game regular season losing streak going. If Nick Saban's Tide program is ready to turn a corner, this would be a nice time to do it. The fan base is already nuts after one of the nation's best recruiting classes, and a win over the Tigers would send expectations through the roof. The Tide won the last meeting between the two 56-0 in 1975 and has won the last 11.

I've watched the other conference fans talk about how weak the SEC OOC schedule always is...and yet, 7 out of the top 10 games feature schools from what conference?

i was kinda in doubt when that game first came about, but im really excited about this match-up now. we could really blow the doors off with a big-ol' "W" in this game. and i really have a good feeling about it too. :D

that's rather dramatic i think. good lord, who are we, Duke?

Seeing how emotions can turn on a dime in the Alabama fan base, I'd say it isn't too far off. Through the roof? That's a little dramatic...fans dancing on the ceiling, yes. I suspect Clemson will start off in the top 15, fairly close to the #10 position.

I wouldn't be surprised if a win over Clemson would put the team around #20 in the polls.

i've been predicting Clemson to be given a preseason top-ten ranking, but even if i'm correct and we are unranked, i just don't think that Clemson commands the kind of respect that would cause Bama fans to expect to automatically win the SEC, or even compete for the SEC title. let's not forget that Clemson only beat SoCar by a last second field goal last year and was beaten by Auburn in the bowl game. Clemson may very well be a great team next year, but ACC teams have to earn respect from SEC fans. in my estimation, neither Clemson nor their conference has done near enough in recent history to impress me.

Its going to be a great game!!! Clemson is going to really strong this year and WHEN we beat them it going to really help Alabama Football in General. I love these Neutral Sites Games. They draw alot of NATIONAL attention!!!

ROLL OVER CLEMSON!!!
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!

I understand what you are saying, and agree that some of the fan base will think that way. But, there are a lot of the fan base, even some that post consistently on message forums, that couldn't tell you that Dabo is a coach there. Most probably couldn't name the Clemson RB's even though we recruited one of them fairly intensely.

IF there are fans that don't respect some of the ACC teams they don't follow football that closely. Even a school like Boston College deserves that respect. They've been a consistent program the last few years.

I realized going into LSU that we were competing for the West last season. I saw others realizing the same thing. My point boils down to more of the fan base looking at their ranking more so than their late season fall offs in the last few years. OK, 9 years.

Hate to have to say this, but I really like the idea of playing Clemson first because even if they do beat us, it'll be a nice kick in the butt for the team to go on and beat SEC teams. One of our biggest problems the past few years has been getting worse as the season progresses instead of getting better.
