| GOLF UA’s Nick Dunlap wins the American Express (as an Amateur)

Yea, I'd be surprised if he didn't turn pro at this point, you've already proved you can win. Time to go make some money.

I think he'll play the Masters as an amateur before he does so. Not sure the rules on that though. If he goes Pro I don't think he qualifies, but he's already been given his invite as an amateur. I bet that weighs into his decision.

Dunlap's 259 also represents a tournament record at the American Express, and it opens the door to countless possibilities for the 20-year-old golfer. While his victory does not come with a winner's check, he receives every other perk, including a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour; invitations into the Masters (for which he already qualified via his U.S. Amateur victory), PGA Championship and Players Championship; and invitations to the PGA Tour's signature events this season. If he wishes, Dunlap can start his 2025 season in Hawaii at The Sentry.

I've seen pundits, nationwide, making comments about how upside down this is in the NIL world.

However, he could make some bank in the NIL world.

Crazy few days...people looking at what's happening in the portal with Bama and saying "that ain't right." People looking at a Bama golfer, in the NIL world, and saying, "that ain't right."

I'm seeing a lot of empathy towards UA.

I don't think it's upside down. It would be like a current college player jumping into an NFL game. Not NIL, but performance in the sport.

Amazing accomplishment. 33 years since another amateur won a tour event, and that was Mickelson. Youngest winner since Tiger. That's pretty good company.

It's a smart choice for him to go pro. Jay Seawall has done a tremendous job of supporting him and marketing his program during this. We'll be fine. Dunlap is going to have a top 10 wedge game immediately on tour.

I do wish he'd return so we could win another national title. But Seawall has recruited as well as anyone and has consistently gotten Alabama to compete at a high level.
