As you know, I have resigned myself to the annual 1AA game. But Georgia State?

Here's one thing that crossed my mind immediately.

The date.

If you want to look at the bright side we could almost consider it a week off for our starters...nice time for a rest considering how the last half of our schedule breaks down.

I just wish the NCAA would make a rule against playing 1AA teams. Sure, I understand the need for a cupcake on the schedule for a breather, to get some PT for the younger guys, and all that. But, there are plenty of cupcake 1A teams to play.

Sorry to inform you of this. Do you remember the old limitation of playing 1AA teams only once every 4 years or whatever it was? Well that limitation was dropped by the NCAA, the EXACT same day that the 12th game was added to the schedule. Coincidence? Hardly!

And to add, they also added the criteria of how many wins you can count from (damn, am I the only one that still struggles with FBS and FCS?) Div. 1AA teams.

Last year, Clemson had to win seven to be bowl eligible.

I got to thinking about this schedule this morning...putting in wood floors in my media room so I have nothing else to think about besides not cutting my fingers off.

Anyway, I like the 2010 schedule, a lot in fact.

Games at home will include Penn State, Florida, Ole Miss and Auburn.
Games on the road will include UT, LSU, Arkansas and South Carolina. (I know, USCe, but I'd expect Garcia to be a pretty serviceable QB the year after next.)

So, take at Duke and weigh that against hosting Ga. <strike>Southern</strike> State and it's a wash. Hosting San Jose St. and Mississippi State for a few enjoyable weekends...

This really is a pretty solid schedule.

This is exactly the ideal 4 game OOC schedule. As I have said before, if Bama is going to schedule a 1AA team each year, and it looks as if they will do so, then the other 3 games should be against a Top 40, a Middle 40, and a Bottom 40 team. These 3 1A teams; PSU, Duke, and SJS, fit the bill. And since they have not as yet scheduled the 1AA team, it appears they are taking the high road and waiting to see if the Atlanta Sports Council wants Bama to bail them out of the UCLA/barn/UGA/GT mess.

Of course I was wrong about the high road. They took the lowest road possible in scheduling Georgia State. But I still like the schedule.<!-- / message -->

I wonder if the selection was made as a good will type of gesture simply because of what Curry is taking on...put Perkins there and I have my doubts.

I don't know about that, but obviously he did not completely burn the bridge down when he left. Some of it is still standing anyway.
