UPDATE 11:10 P.M.
Two Auburn football players are accused of harassing a female veteran with PTSD and her service dog today on Auburnās campus.
The players accused of taunting the veteran and her service dog are Defensive Tackle Dontavious Russell and defensive lineman Andrew Williams.
The story was spotted on a Facebook page called Service Dog Memes.

The Facebook page also posted the names and information of the players accused.

Crystal Stoddard, the sister of the accuser also took to Facebook.

We spoke to Crystal Stoddard the accuserās sister and she said itās more than PTSD. āāShe has PTSD, but itās caused by MST which is Military Sexual Trauma. We wonāt go into the details of what happened, but anything can make her relive that trauma. When those players were yelling at her and using those names it was like she was reliving the trauma not just what was happening then.ā
Mrs. Stoddard confirmed that this is the accusers account of the incident in her own words. The statement matches an earlier post on the Service Dogs Memes Facebook page.

The Stoddard family did say that Auburn offered to have Williams and Russell apologize in a private confidential meeting, but thatās not good enough for them. āShe was publicly humiliated and thatās why I wonāt accept anything but a public apology for my sister.ā
āThe players at least need to stand up and publicly apologize, thatās the minimum bar for what we will acceptā said Mrs. Stoddard. āThese players are looked up to, there are little boys who wear Auburn jerseys and go to every game. They need to apologize and prove that this isnāt the kind of people they are.ā
When asked what was motivating her to get this story out Mrs. Stoddard said āI worked at Auburn, I know how things are, I knew we had to make a big deal of this. I didnāt want this swept under the rug.ā
As you might expect the family has gotten negative push back from trying to make this a public incident. āIāve been getting a lot of negative comments from people, but how could you not want to defend that person who defended you?ā
āMy sister is a female veteran and has a service dog. Even if you eliminate any two of those things how could you harass her? She was being harassed because she was different.ā said Mrs. Stoddard.
Beyond the offer of a private meeting Mrs. Stoddard says that Coach Malzhan did call the victim and say he would speak with his players.
We also reached out to Auburn University and were told by Associate AD Cassie Arner that the university has contacted the parties involved in this incident and are investigating. Auburn does want the public to know that they are taking this situation seriously.
I donāt think Russell and Williams should be kicked off the team with what we know right now, but they certainly need to apologize publicly. If they harassed the accuser in public, then they need to face a whole lot of wind sprints and a public apology at the very least.
Auburn University a major state school, any actions that may have happened do not represent the views of Auburn, but of those involved.
