💬 🦃 Happy Thanksgiving 2025 - The day after. What was on your plate, or we'll include dream plate?

I typically make the turkey for Thanksgiving, but I'm letting someone else do it and I pray they do not fuck it up. I swear, I will drive to Popeyes to get one of their turkeys, make them cook that shit, and serve to everyone.
I hope they don’t drop step while cooking that bird! It will be toast before it hits the oven. Arby’s might have a little something cooked up if you get desperate down there.

Are you feeling a food hangover this morning? Or, are you thinking about a turkey sandwich later on today?

What was on the plate, folks? What did you leave on the table?

Double smoked ham, smoked turkey, dressing, and collards on my plate. Left off green bean casserole, sweet potato souffle, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, and all the desserts. Tried a single barrel stave collection from rebel for my dessert, was pretty good

Cajun turkey, collards, mashed taters, hashbrown caserole, green beans, black eyes peas, cream corn, macaroni and cheese on my plate.

Dressing, ham, charcuterie board, sweet potato casserole, rotelle dip, and a few other vegetables available.

Ham, dressing, sweet potatoes, green beens, corn casserole, broccoli casserole (my wife eats it :)), cranberry sauce and apple with cinnamon roll desert. Still have bits of each left over for grazing all weekend.

Forgot had some mac and cheese for the kiddos.

My phone pinged late yesterday afternoon.
I looked at the picture and smiled.
It was one of the best pictures I have seen of the coach in the nearly 30 years since he retired.
Coach Stallings was home on his family ranch yesterday in Paris, Texas.
He was watching a few of his family members do some skeet shooting- he was laughing while wearing his shades.
Today, Coach Stallings and Ruth Ann will welcome the family for Thanksgiving, and this Sunday I’ll be writing on AL.com about the Stallings being thankful for a family member who went to Heaven 17 years ago.
John Mark Stallings had Down syndrome- he lived a wonderful life and passed away in 2008 at the age of 46.
Down the hall at the Stallings’ house is Johnny’s Room.
Coach Stallings and Ruth Ann haven’t touched Johnny’s Room since he died.
The coach and Ruth Ann occasionally walk into the room where Johnny passed- they soak up memories before visiting his grave on their property.
While most of us will give thanks today for those who are with us, let’s not forget to thank those who have passed for making our lives so blessed.
That includes the Stallings’ beloved son.
Who left memories galore.
Down the hall in Johnny’s Room.
*Don’t you love this picture? Let Coach Stallings know!
*Thanks to Martha Kate Stallings Gunn for the pictures.

He was invaluable to our football program. I’m sure they’ve have something to honor him (likely multiple times) but I wish they’d do something else before he’s gone. Something big on a game weekend.
Do you think something like a statue in front of the stadium would be a good idea? 🙃
