I am totally impressed with this young man ( and I know he will haft to wait his turn ) but I struggle to think of another freshman with the potential to take BAMA where they want to go every year and break all BAMA’s passing records....

I know A.J. Went back to back and he is one of my favorites but he is limited in some throws , but he has proven he can when the ā€œ BIG ā€œ games ...

Brodie had the arm but was ā€œ glass joe ā€œ back there and didn’t have nowhere near the supporting cast that Tua will have when it is his time ...

Anyone have any thoughts on past incoming QB’s with more talent or upside in this limited sample size ?

Hard to fathom Tua only starting 1 year at Bama. Maybe Hurts progresses so much going into and thru Jr year he leaves early? Of course, as much as he runs there is always the unthinkable/injury. This kid is starting at Florida, Tennessee, and many other teams across the country.

Spring drills and fall camp will put Nick Saban and staff on the spot as far as the QB position. If Chip Kelly takes the Gator job then perhaps the little brother might take a look at the Gators. JMO but Jalen has little future as a NFL QB thus he will be at Bama for 4 years. If Tua is going to make a move then leaving after this season is the time to make it happen. We'll see but you need to keep an open mind.

The first part of your statement here is exactly I was a proponent of shirting Tua. Unfortunately, there was no viable backup.

My only concern now, especially after seeing a walk-on getting some mop-up action Saturday, is why couldn't we have given Tua 2nd-team reps in practice and prepared the walk-on just to not fuckup a mop-up duty handoff, that way a shirt would've been much more advantageous in preserving a year of Tua's eligibility.

He wasn't recruited that way. If you think about it from a bit of a different perspective than simply focusing on it being the quarterback position he's followed the script.

When it comes to frosh Saban has always said if they prove their good enough to be on the field they'll be there. A lot of different facets involved there, but the principle remains, right? He came in, did what he was supposed to do, and earned the playing time.

I understood that completely. It was no different than my concern about starting Jalen last season. In August I was thinking about turnovers and November. In 2017 you're thinking about 2019.
