Pretty much how I see it as well.
A couple of thoughts I'll add that I've come up with looking at this game.
Murrell's, on the DL, is a big guy. But, if last year is anything like this year he's got severe conditioning concerns. He's big enough to plug a hole, not strong enough to create one. If he's in the #4 gap, we'll run to the #5 gap if we are going between the tacklesāand vice versa.
I don't see a lot of difference this year in their 1's and 2's on the DL. But, neither should present a problem.
You and I see exactly the same on their back seven. The only thing I'd add to that is if we were to rate their top five players, four of them would come from their back seven. I REALLY like Gaitor. I suspect we'll avoid him and see our passing attack aimed towards their other CB, Johnson.
I like Scott Bryant a lot, but think the break out player from their LB corps in this game is probably going to be Davis.
IF I were to make a comparison to a team in the SEC when it comes to the FIU defense I'd pick Arkansas. Yes, that Arkansas...the one that was last in the SEC in just about every defensive category.
RB Darriet Perry was very high on Ron Zook's recruiting list at Illinois. He's a player.
I'd watch Dudley LaPorte at tight end as well. Hell of a JUCO player, good size and speed.
IF I were to rank their offense in terms of an SEC team, I'd probably call them a team just below South Carolina. The difference is this.
South Carolina can run, but couldn't pass. FIU can pass, but can't run.
Here's some other thoughts I had on the game...
