| RECRUIT Transfer Portal tracker (Winter Window for Alabama has closed.)

Just got back… but I thought we reached that number already
We knew they were as many as half of a dozen over the scholarship limit for the fall. So, there were at least six there. We also know they were 20 or more over with the walk-ons on campus.

So, yes. They have been pruning the roster.

There are about a half of a dozen members here who are "casually" following the scholarship numbers. We are all within one or two of each other thinking 85, 86, or maybe 87 on scholarships. There are only a handful that know the true number. We are just exercising mathematics and a little logic.

Alabama WILL NOT have a solid number until well after spring camp. I say "we're following the numbers casually" because so much can still change before and after spring camp.

On another note, but related:

For years you guys have said, "pre-season polls don't mean anything." That has never been as true as it is today. We have "Too Early" rankings being published when everyone's roster is still in flux. How do you rank a team when you don't even know their rosters (or their opponents?)

These guys did not fit into the category of coming from the Utah and Ball State type programs. They may fit 3* but not what I was referencing. Probably confused things referencing Jacobs but he was a diamond in the rough for sure.

Dre was a 5-star, at least Dre Sr. We got to meet him after the game Tuesday afternoon. Nice guy and easy to see that he loves the school.

Sr., or Jr.?

Dre Sr. was a five star on 247's composite in '09.
Y'all were/are right. My apologies.

I can't remember which season. I can remember what Saban said.

We were all attempting to follow the scholly count with the team following all the hoopla with oversigning.com, national reporters talking about medicals, and the like. Saban made the comment in the post-season (I believe) that the Tide had been playing under the limit: 81 if I recall correctly.

I quit that day; just try to make an educated guess now-a-day. With partials, in state grants, NIL ... just too many variables. Hell, you can be at 87 one year as long as you are at 83 the following (at least that was in place a few years ago: penalties for too many on the roster.)

At this point, I'd roll out there with 200 players and threaten to sue the NCAA and watch nothing happen.

Cracked me up when Kiffin made the comment that he hopes Dart files a waiver and comes back for another year. Couldn't help but laugh at that one.

This is crazy hasn't even played a down for the Ducks!
Oregon four-star QB enrollee Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele expected to enter transfer portal

Former Ewa Beach (Hawaii) Campbell quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele, who signed with the Ducks and enrolled at Oregon in December, is expected to enter the transfer portal, sources told 247Sports. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder flipped from Cal to Oregon on Signing Day Dec. 4.

He took his talents to the Ducks as the class of 2025's No. 106 overall prospect, No. 8 quarterback and No. 1 player in Hawaii.

"It's not very often that you get to this point and you don't know which way it's leaning or where it's at," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said of Sagapolutele Dec. 4. "What I did know was where Jaron's heart was this whole time. I think the process started a little bit later here for us, his heart was wanting to be here at Oregon, and I'm really excited about him and what he'll bring to the table for us."

When Sagapolutele signed with Oregon, he was a key cog in the Ducks' elite Big Ten recruiting class. Oregon also signed San Diego Lincoln Top247 quarterback Akili Smith Jr.

It looked like Cal, which originally landed Sagapolutele's commitment July 8, would keep him after fending off a charge from Georgia (he twice canceled visits with the Bulldogs) and Oregon. But the Ducks, Sagapolutele's childhood-favorite team, ultimately landed him.

"I thought highly of (Sagapolutele) when I'd watch him when I'd go back home and throw," said Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who is from Mililani (Hawaii) High. "But I think when I saw him at the Elite 11 around the top-level guys, the dude can sling it. He's got pop behind his arm. Of course, I'm a little biased with him being a lefty. But also, it wouldn't take anyone to see it. Just go watch this kid throw live. He's got pop. He can sling it with the best of them.

"More importantly, I know what type of kid he is and being from Hawaii. I'm proud of him."

Since Sagapolutele already enrolled at Oregon in December after signing, Sagapolutele is expected to enter the portal instead of needing to request a release.

Players in bowls after Dec. 28 have five days following their final game to enter the portal, so Sagapolutele has until the weekend, but is expected to be in before.

As one of the 2025 cycle's top passers, Sagapolutele is likely to have suitors for him once he's in the portal.

"Sagapolutele has clearly established himself as one of the nation's top quarterbacks this offseason," 247Sports national scouting analyst Greg Biggins said in Sagapolutele's July 7 evaluation. "He has really had a great spring and summer including a recent top-11 finish at the prestigious Elite 11 Finals. You can make an argument he has the strongest arm in the country but doesn't just throw all fastballs and has really improved in his ability to change speeds and throw with touch.

"His deep-ball accuracy is among the best in the country as well and he can really layer the football into tight windows. His release is smooth and tight and he has improved in his ability to make quick decisions and get the ball out on time. ... All the physical tools are there and Keawe Sagapolutele has a very high ceiling and NFL potential if he continues to develop at his current rate."

Here's the thing.. Take the focus away from where the player came from.... Focus on the player's development. that's the key.

Let me give you little history:
What school did the players attended before landing in NFL?
Jordan Love
Bobby Wagner
Nick Virgil
Patrick Scale

Hint: Utah State

SO, I'm saying, Don't think about where they came from.

I have real good feelings about Arkel Anugwom and his chance to contribute on the field. Also, take a look at transfer portal, I noticed some players are coming from small school and transferring to FBS school, which is a show of confidence.
We have gone back and forth enough on this so lets just wait and see and hope they are everything we need them to be when they get to Bama.
