šŸˆ TOUCHDOWN ALABAMA MAGAZINE: Stats That Will Blow Your Mind, In a Bad Way

I pay A LOT of attention to numbers. BUT, in a case where we've only played three games (one of which is against A&M) what do they tell me?

Not much.

I don't believe I've ever seen a season with such disparity in the three opponents we've faced. Then we add in McElwain's return and it skews numbers to hell, back to hell, and then to hell again.

Call me skeptical. Primarily based on the notion of penalties which doesn't have as much to do w/ the teams as it does us.

It's like what they and about stats can argue either side of most arguments... (G)

No doubt.

Here's two more examples which may or may not mean anything.

Look at USC. They aren't doing well statistically but have managed to squeak out some W's. However, bad stats and beating a team like Utah St. by three should tell you they have issues—major issues. Big difference in winning your game against a team like that by three or a team like CSU by multiple touchdowns.

Or, look at Baylor. If I've seen it once I've seen it a half of a dozen times, "who can stop Baylor." But, who has Baylor played? Great offensive numbers...against whom?

(Side note: Baylor started off at 500 to 1 for an appearance in the BCSNC. It's now dropped significantly...25 to 1 maybe?)
