You know, writing this article made me realize what a nice run and how lucky I've been over the years to meet the people I have and gain insights into their lives. I was just a board blogger who got noticed and started to get some offers to write for different sites and then BOOM, I got credentialed, joined the press corps and enjoy writing... I am just like everyone here that posts and shares stories, idea and comments... I was just lucky to have been at the right place at the right time many times in my life. Believe me, it's never been talent, it's been luck... (G)

This article goes from me meeting the Bryant's in their home and getting to see their feelings about Joe Namath to the present times, when I've been fortunate enough to have had both AJ and Coach Saban speak to me about each other. Every once in a while I write something I actually enjoy reading myself (G) and this is one of those. Hope you enjoy it too...

Answer...

Good article Larry. Really enjoyed that info. But you left us hanging, did you sell them a set of knives?

Yep, she had bought them and wrote me a check before Coach came home, after checking the mail he got interested in seeing how sharp they were and cut his finger running his finger down the blade... (they were REALLY sharp)... And he said said something like, "Mama, you're going cut your fingers off with these." and she said, "No Paul, because I won't rub my fingers on the blades!" and he smiled... I think she bought a pair of kitchen scizzors too, because he picked up the penny I made a corkscrew out of and wanted me to do that again for him. He asked me how much they were and she said, "That's none of your business, you run the football team and I'll run the house." He grinned and left the kitchen. She asked if I wanted to stay for dinner and to this day I regret saying no. I had "intruded" enough... Just the way I was raised, but it sure smelled good. Before I left coach asked me how school was going, was I selling much of this and so forth. He even made a joke about how no man wants to come home and find a strange car in the driveway. You never know who might be in there with your wife... and he looked at her and winked... They were cute together...

I've been in post game press conferences when Saban was in a bad mood, but Terri would come in and stand with her back on the side wall and watch him and he'd just instantly change and grin and be nice... When they're close to each other, they're always touching each other. He is a different person with her than when he's not... It's obvious that they're still crazy about each other after all these years... I overheard him once telling someone else that "She's (Terri) just as good looking to him in a sweatshirt as when she's all dressed up"... Missed the beginning of that conversation, but it seemed like it was about some women's desire to only be seen dressed up or taking so long to get ready.
