A few comments from Tony today that I thought were worth sharing. You can catch comments and conversations from his twitter timeline.

•On the permanent opponent:

"11 of the 14 teams in the SEC like the permanent crossover. I personally asked each AD. South Carolina, Texas A&M and LSU are the only ones who don't."

•On conference schedules:

Bottom line:. You can't "demand" another conference do anything. The Big 12 doesn't have conf champ game. Their choice.

Pac-12 plays 9 conf game and champ game on campus. Their choice. ACC plays eight plus 5 vs. ND. Their choice.

SEC thinks 8 conf game plus another from Big Five is enough. The selection committee could prove them wrong. But it is their choice.

Point on the Big 12 is that it hasn't asked for a waiver or chosen to add two more teams. They like their round-robin model. Their CHOICE.

ACC may decide soon that 8 conf. games plus 5 with ND and at least 4 with SEC each season is enough. You make choices and live with results.

He came to speak to our alumni group last August. I like him a lot...in spite of...well, at least we know he's biased towards UGA.

True—nothing wrong with that either, in my opinion. He's alum, and been in ATL working for the AJC since I was in high school.

When he lost it about the Murray hit I understood where that was coming from: we can't expect indifference 100% of the time with a guy who covers college football. There's too much passion with CFB fans; it's inherent to being one.
