I'll go with Blake Sims for MVP, shaking off a tough night's work to make plays at the end.
The only reason I'd do this is I cannot single out just one player on defense and I don't believe in the "give it to the whole unit" thing. And cannot forget JK Scott or Griffith for coming through when it mattered.
Team effort, in other words. But the defense was heroic. I thought LSU was about to break them after the two long drives (that didn't result in points) in the second half, but that defense put its foot down and said, "No more."
One observation on Blake: Few among us, probably even among those old enough to have been around when it happened, can tell you what kind of game Kenny Stabler had before the "Run in the Mud." But they remember the run.
Ten or 20 years from now, few will remember what kind of game AJ McCarron had before the winning drive at LSU, or what kind of game Greg McElroy had before the drive against Auburn.
But they will all remember those epic drives.
Same for Sims. Fifty seconds, no timeouts. And he did it with time to spare, then topped that in overtime.
He earned a place in Alabama history against LSU.
