🏈 Today's win marks the 12th consecutive 10 win season for Bama. In today's context, it doesn't mean a lot to me.

It doesn't mean a lot due to seasons with 13, 14, and now 15 games played.

However, I find it worth noting that Coach Bryant had 13 throughout his career with the Tide.

@TerryP what would you propose the adjusted equivalent in today's game? 12 wins?
Good question. Wade and Thomas as I recall only had two 10 win season. Stallings had four. When we see guys like Curry and Perkins only having one and DuBose and Shula having the same ... it's just lost its value in my eyes.

11 seems about right considering it would mean one loss in conference or to one of the marque OOC games. 12 seems high considering half of college football will play 13 games per season.

We've played an FCS (non-major) opponent every year under Coach Saban with the exception of 2008. We didn't play non-major opponents regularly previously.

3 times since since the 70s - 2004, 1991, 1982.

They were a regular in the 40s, 50s, 60s. Several seasons in the 50s that we had 2 non-majors in a season.

There's a big point missing in this, Matt—when the NCAA moved to the FBS and FCS schools. It creates a problem with your premise by saying "We didn't play non-major opponents regularly previously." There were A LOT of teams that were in DII play when they faced Bama.

There were three teams in 2006. Alabama played Southern Miss 43 times in their history and 42 of those years they would be what we call FCS today. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Let's remember. The difference between FCS and FBS boils down to scholarships. It's the same when comparing D1 and D2 teams. Alabama has faced a lot of D2 teams throughout the years.

Alabama now has 12 consecutive 10-win seasons. Amazing.

It becomes even more remarkable in context of the numbers below for the rest of the SEC.

10-win seasons in program history & number of coaches who've won 10 games in a season.

Alabama - 41 with 12 different coaches - an active streak of 12 in a row.
Arkansas - 12 with 5 different coaches
auburn - 14 with 6 different coaches (hey barner lfb, I ain't capitalizing it)
Florida - 15 with 5 different coaches (all since 1991)
Georgia - 25 with 6 different coaches (Mark Richt had 10 of them)
Kentucky - 3 with 3 different coaches (Coach Bryant was one of them)
LSU - 16 with 7 different coaches (one was in 1908; Les Miles had 7 of them)
Mississippi State - 3 with 3 different coaches
Missouri - 6 with 2 different coaches (Gary Pinkel had 5 of them)
Ole Miss - 7 with 4 different coaches
South Carolina - 4 with 2 different coaches (Spurrier had 3 of them)
Tennessee - 19 with 5 different coaches (Bill Battle had 3 of them)
Texas A&M - 12 with 6 different coaches (RC Slocum had 5 of them)
Vanderbilt - Zero

Also interesting to note: Bama grads have 10-win seasons at 4 other SEC schools - Cousin Jackie Sherrill at Mississippi State & Texas A&M, Bill Battle at Tennesse, and Coach Bryant at Kentucky (his best year at A&M was 9 wins)

2020 is going is going to be a real struggle for The King.

I would not count out Bama so quickly. I know what it looks like on paper but Saban is the GOAT for a reason. Some might say this year has been a struggle (I would) and they are still on the edge of the playoffs and have only lost 1 game so far (lets hope it stays at 1 game at least until the playoffs).
