It is done. Big money is already being ponied up to address the buy-out. In all likelihood the Bobby Petrino era starts at Auburn shortly after we finish cleaning our teeth off your field in November.

Charlie Strong is also a candidate. A few more names will be tossed about but you may largely ignore them.

Vandy= AU Coach Killer

They've now taken down Franklin and Tuberville in the same season, now Chizik.

Bobby Petrino is a good coach, but he brings a lot of baggage. And remember when he coached one season in the NFL?

I think Arkansas will pose some competition in the coaching hunt with Auburn if its a coach not named Bobby P.

Arkansas is making some big facility improvements and they have a better AD compared to Auburn.

At one time, I didn't hate the barn. Then I had an employee that was the epitome of the inbred, mouth breathing barn fan that coincided with tubbs and his streak. I am in a near orgasmic bliss with Bama highs and the lowest of Barn lows.

Petrino may be a good coach but I really think Auburn is going to regret getting yet another bandaid hire. By that I mean look at the wake Petrino leaves behind.....everywhere he goes. Once he leaves Auburn (or gets ran out of there) then they will have to start all over again. Look at the mess Arky is in. Does Auburn really want to taste 2012 again in a few years? Bold move. Auburn will have to live with the fact the guy is a loose cannon and it really is a gamble with someone like him.

If they do hire him I swear there better ot be one booger EVER talk about Alabama and morals. :no-no:

i think Charlie Strong would be one of the better hires. you can't necessarily say that he's been a head coach of a championship team but he has been a part of a lot of great teams.

i have to agree with dye on the petrino deal... auburn would be foolish to hire that guy. i don't think they'll do it.

I concur. While Petrino definitely knows offense, he never figured out that defense is what is an absolute in this league in order to win. Spurrier didn't win an MNC during his decade of dominance at UF, until he hired Stoops to run his defense. It appears that Petrino has not figured that out yet. While John L has taken the brunt of the heat for UArk's fall from grace, Petrino was the coach that hired the DC and then didn't recruit the talent needed on that side of the ball. I think if Petrino were to show up at Auburn, it would be Louisville and UArk part III. Play well offensively, and make some noise, but never be able to get over the hump with the really good defensive teams.
The only way it would work IMO is if they were to keep Van Gorder. Put he still needs the talent there to run his D.
