šŸˆ Today in history: Versus Texas, This is the first game Alabama wears crimson helmet with white numerals.

What about in the early 80's when Ray Perkins coached? The team wore white helmets a few times.

Growing up, mama wouldn’t put up with sports on the TV. In the 80’s early I was deployed on 2 long carrier cruises and always seemed to have duty when I could watch them in my area of country during 84 - 87 Despite being a Bama fan all of my life, I have only started really watching since ā€˜93. Only been to 2 games and neither were big ones.

The entire team has to wear the same color helmets, jerseys and pants during a game.
Wasnt always so,Mike
...if I remember....( and that isnt always so accurate)....bama was playing some team...and both teams wore same color helmets..so bear had his receivers change to white helmets.....for QB to see easier...
And one of the covers on media guide when Perk was HC.....showed bama in white helmets....i have it somewhere....if ifind i will put on
@PurlJam ....good pic

I'd love to see the different helmet colors in a game, bet that was hilarious. @PurlJam put a photo on of one of CRP 83 team in the white helmet.

Thanks, that's Gary Otten(70) Mike Adcock (76) Wes Neighbors(54) and of course Ricky Moore(26) just for reference. :)

You are correct and it is the reason the rule is what it is today. If Bama does something within the rules that benefits them, then the rule is changed. Always has been. Always will be.

I thought I remembered Bama receivers wearing white helmets in the 1962 opener in Birmingham at night against Georgia. I was there and I could write a short story about that game. Those who know the history, know what I'm saying. But I digress. Found the following:

1962
At times during the 1960s, Alabama used white helmets on eligible receivers in games at night or when another team??s helmet matched or resembled ours in color.
