🏈 Today 14 years ago! Bama got a Coach!

14 years ago today a LEGEND landed in Tuscaloosa and the rest, is history. Happy Nick Saban Day, Alabama Nation!

No one and I mean no one knew just how great a move that would turn out to be for Bama! I hoped Coach Saban would bring the team back to national relevance and would win a NC or two. Not in my wildest dreams did I foresee what has transpired. I’m old so I’ve been blessed to live during the reigns of the greatest two coaches in college football history. The fact they both resided in Tuscaloosa and lead Bama to greatness makes me smile ... often. Thanks for such great memories!

I knew BAMA would be successful under Coach Saban . His ability to change the teams bread and butter through the years and never really take a step back has been astonishing.

And to think while I knew Coach Saban was gonna win , I thought that Jim Leavitt would have been a better “long term” coach for us .....

Even though it’s said Jim turned us down , along with everyone else ... That was a rough time to think back on it now ...

You have to thank Finebaum also for offending Rita so Rich Rodriguez would not take the job. Went to bed that night thinking he was going to be the next coach woke up to not so fast. Then we went into wait mode. Was worth the wait. I remember Jay Barker on WJOX saying there is more to this Saban to Bama than people think.

We all are thankful for several things:
1. Coach Saban came to Bama.
2. Rich Rod did not come to Bama.
3. An AD that made a tough call to fire Coach Shula.
4. Bama is back in the national picture.
