šŸˆ To those who supported CFP expansion & are now outraged by the path it's taken... Serious question: What did you expect?

Although I consider myself unworthy of commenting on this because compared to you guys, I should change my screen name to 'Dummaz Ahrok', I was never in favor of expanding the PO's, or the NIL. I haven't changed my position, and I don't believe I will change it. It's hard to keep loyal to the team when a good portion on the team only has loyalty to 'Dead Presidents'. And then we lose to Vandy.

ROLL TIDE ANYWAY!

This is last year's final ranking for the playoff selections. Applying the new rules, based on the automatics, the four Big Ten teams in the top 16 would get it, the first four in the SEC would get in, ND in, the top two ACC's in, and top two Big 12's would be in (having to go down to 17 to grab BYU). Then, you'd have Boise in. That would be 14. The other teams not yet included in the Top 16 would be 14 Ole Miss, 15 South Carolina and 16 Clemson. By virtue of Big 12's second automatic qualifier sitting at 17, Clemson would've been left out at 16. So, 6 SEC, 4 B10, 2ACC, 2B12, ND, Boise.

Is that right?

Never supported it and it's turned out about like I figured.
Everything, has turned out exactly, the way we were criticizing it from the day of its conception and inception.

At least they are saying this part out loud now. "We know they wont' win, but we need more of them."

college football isn’t ruined, but it sure doesn’t feel the same

we’re gonna start seeing teams that lose 4-5 of their 12 games in the playoffs with a chance to win a championship still

we have Rutgers and USC in the same conference, they’re almost 2,800 miles apart

forget getting attached to your players, especially if you root for a small school. develop them to lose them

some conference championship games still mean a lot, great games too, but i no longer care who wins the SEC or Big Ten

i’ll still be there every saturday, but things feel different, and they’re not trending in the right direction

idk what the answer is to fix it, lots of great things have come change too like players getting paid

i’m thrilled they finally get a portion, but the guys behind the sport that only care about money seem to be devaluing what we all love

I want to say that they will figure it out.........but with how things are now, I'm not so sure.

If you think back to the early days of the BCS there was a lot of complaining about the system and the two best teams, etc.

I remember margin of victory carried some weight and there was a lot of teams like Florida/FSU/Nebraska beating teams like a Troy/UAB/Jax St 77-3 type scores. Everyone remembers the 2004 People's Champion from the Cow College for being left out of the BCS.
By the end of the BCS era and the intro of the play off, everyone would calculate what the BCS computer would cypher up and compare it to the committee so "see if they got it right". We felt the BCS was better and had no bias.

Having said that, I don't necessarily like where we are headed. I think greed/ money is the biggest reason for all of this. In reality, no team outside the top 8 and probably realistically the top 6 have a shot at beating the teams ahead of them and competing for the NC. I always felt like 6 was the magic number. 1 and 2 get a first round bye and let 3-6 play the first round.

The "ruined" question is not hitting the overall feeling of the sport, they are categorizing it into NIL and then Playoffs. Wrap all that together and it is dead. Look at NIL alone, it looks dead. Look at Playoffs alone, it isn't dead, but it sure ain't as great as folks were sold on.

As ith @OldPlayer It was year 1. Start adjusting. Re figure.
Was still better than a bunch of bowls that meant ...nothing...
To me anyway.

I watched more post season.....than previous years.. ( which was bama...and/or 4 team cfps....)
A lot sux...but ....this is the new world...which is still wonderful..but a lot sux ( for us less-younger guys)......

Excited about year 2 and season as a whole...

I actually watched more bowl games than the playoffs. Several bowls games where really good games.
I picked all but 1 playoff game correctly, I had OSU winning it all. There was very little ā€œdramaā€ or surprise. The notre dame Georgia game was the only surprise, to me.
I didn't intentionally sit down to watch any bowl or playoff game other than ours, saw parts of several in passing, and I was intentionally busy during the NC game.

Re figure.
Supporters is who I assume you are addressing here? All the playoff guys need to refigure. I'm tired of hearing it out of both sides of their mouths.

A team MUST NOT play a G5 teams in the regular season: this from fans, mediots, and other akin.
A playoff MUST include G5 teams.

Don't try to make it make sense. It never has.

What's even richer is the media love for Cignetti and IU this past playoff season and they canceled all their P4 games.

A G4 team to play is ok. Some are as good as many P4.
But schedule 1. Ok.
Rest P4 and let committee sort it out. But if u win B12 or ACC. Ok. Ur in. But not first round bye guaranteed. Thats better.

The easiest way to do a playoff is to do what the D II and D III have done for years. Another option would be to have the P 4 have a playoff and the G 4 have one. It is going to take a few years to get the playoffs where a majority of teams and fans are happy. Someone is always going to be left out though.

And, in current format, someone who doesn't deserve it is apt to get in.

When did the BCS get it wrong?
