🏈 To Hell With Pro Agents

Why always punish the man that is barely out of his teens? Yeah, they are now a little more strict with agents, big whoopee.

Why not make it a felony to basically stalk current football players? Give them an allotted amount of time, maybe a two week block, during which time they can speak with seniors and only seniors. That is it, the 2 week agent period. If they can't get it done, too bad.

Paparazzi anyone? Wolves waiting in the dark to pounce? There are ways to stop it. Punish and fine any NFL team that an agent is associated with. Charge the harassing individuals with crimes.

Take draft picks always from an NFL team that has a rogue agent on the payroll. Wouldn't the NFL wish to help out the college game by doing everything they could to prevent corruption instead of foster it?

This happens every single year, year after year. It happens to teams from coast to coast from top to bottom.

First and foremost, maybe we shouldn't be so quick to start assessing blame before all the facts are in, or at least all we're ever going to know. Second, there's reason to believe the alleged Agent contact may not have been directly with Andre. Third, there just might be more to this than is readily apparent. Personally, I'm going to wait & see what develops. Hopefully there is nothing more damaging to the University than what has already been reported.

The NFL set a rule that players could not join until that were removed from High School for two years. They did this for the right reason, AND at a potential cost to the league.

One way around is to disallow any player from participating IF his agent agreement (as qualified via NCAA rules) harms the member University. This costs them nothing. Further, it AIDS them in weeding out anyone who is willing to not play by the rules for personal gain at the expense of the team.

But most importantly, it costs them nothing to do the right thing.

The NFL should ban agents who have illegal contact with players. Just my two cents.

Impossible. Agents have too much power. They are the means by which NFL teams obtain access to talent. The NFL has no grounds to punish the agent and couldn't care less about the schools at this point. Think about it, if you were an NFL GM and your team that had a shot at Andre in the draft, you wouldn't want him to play in a bowl game and risk getting hurt. You'd want him packed away like a Faberge egg. You can't penalize the NFL.

You also can't penalize the agents. They are making a living. The guy that gets there first is often the winner. The responsibility lies solely on the player to not break the rules that the university and the NCAA has clearly established.

The only thing that would have changed this situation would have been the choice of loyalty to one's team over loyalty to one's self. Life is all about choices.

It's over and done. We have a new starting left tackle at Alabama. Roll Tide.
