Something I was silently afraid of came to pass. A side affect of having played 6 games with no week off, with a couple of those games (including the UGA game) being very physical games, is that our players appeared a bit weary. It was most evident in short yardage situations.

Forget about the officials (though there were several drive stopping bad calls), we were just tired.

UK had played just 4 games, and had a week off prior to WKU. It is pretty obvious that they did not need a whole lot of focus on Western, and I am sure that the coaches used the off week to look at us. Combine that with the way we were chasing UGA's receivers all over the field in the second half last week and we were tired. Late in the game we were just worn out - not by UK, but by 6 weeks with no off week.

The off week could not come at a better time. In two weeks we come out and stomp a mud-hole in the Mississippi Nutts.

This is a good point. I didn't think about it, but we have had more big games during the first half of our season than most top 10 teams will have in their entire season. We are tired. The week off gives us a chance to rest up and get ready for the second part of the season.

something else that contributed the line appearing as such is the fact that Kentucky's front 4 were very good. also we have no depth on the O-Line so the guys played basically the entire stinking game. God bless em. i'm glad they're getting some rest finally.

I don't know if the "depth" issue you are referring to had that much of a bearing in this game. We only played 66 plays the entire game on offense...a good 15-20 lower than average.

Big games, no matter the team, you don't find a lot of rotation on the OL as it is...

IMO, Big_Fan hit the nail on the head...we are tired, emotionally, physically and mentally.

We've played with a lot of those this season...the team is tired.

Look around...you don't see any other team in the nation that has run through two top 10 teams and added another top 20 team in their first 6 games...

Think about that...half of our games so far have been against teams that were ranked in the top 20 at the time. I still think Clemson has a good club...but they are still a little dizzy from our punch in the mouth.

I agree 110% i think your exactly right.

Perhaps fatigue did play into it. I don't want to start making excuses, but we did a lot of the same things we've done all year, especially throwing the ball. I mean that in a good way. JP wasn't that "off" in his throws at all. He had two long completions to Julio that were drive-defining plays called back on bogus calls. That took 75 yards off passing stats. We gave them the ball at their 3, and fumbling is beginning to be an issue. That took at least 3 points off the board, and considering the other 2 easy FG's that Tiffin missed, there are at least 9 points that should have been up there. So....26-14 doesn't seem quite so bad, eh?

It's a good observation that fatigue probably worked on this team today. We still dominated the running game. Minus the 76-yarder, we still rushed for over 200.
