Sweatpants, which are known as tracksuit bottoms or jogging bottoms in some countries, are celebrated today internationally. They are usually worn for athletic or comfort purposes, and have traditionally not been worn in a work environment. Recently they have started being worn outside of the home for reasons besides athletics. Some have become more fashionable, and have been associated with gym culture and hip-hop culture. They are usually made of cotton or polyester, are baggy, and often have an elastic waistband. They can be any color, but traditionally have been gray. They were introduced in the 1920s by Émile Camuset, the founder of Le Coq Sportif, a sports equipment and clothing company. The original sweatpants were knitted gray jersey pants which were designed to help athletes exercise easier.

How to Observe International Sweatpants Day

Celebrate the day by wearing sweatpants! As International Sweatpants Day always takes place on a weekday, it isn't a day to sit at home on your day off, but a day to go to work or school and do your other everyday activities outside of the house while wearing sweatpants.

I wear lounge pants (sort of like pajama bottoms mixed with sweatpants mixed with cargo pants) daily (during cold weather). I've even gone out to my shop and done some work while wearing them.

International Sweatpants Day? That's every day around here.

The "open bottom" style with pockets ... not a lot different than everyday casual pants except for comfort, warmth...

A nice 3/4 zip and you're business casual in a lot of settings.

Don't think I own a pair

@Krimson I own a pair or two but rarely wear them or blue jeans.
I have denim, but not blue. And, I don't think I've worn them since that storm came through last year.

How many different styles of pants can we call sweatpants? I'm wondering if mine are more along the Yoga pants style(s.) The don't look like the elastic cuffs at the ankles, drawstring to hold 'em up....

I rarely wear pants of any sort. If I can't wear shorts I probably don't want to be there.

Mine are plaid, though. And they don't look like everyday casual pants (at least not to me). I only wear them around the house (or in my shop as stated earlier). I never wear them if I go anywhere. That'd be...weird.

I'll wear outdoor pants on occasion and khakis or dress pants to church but I'm most comfortable in shorts and a T
Cultures! :ROFLMAO: Dress pants instead of shorts for church! SMH.

I'm wondering if you guys think "sweatpants" and assume I'm talking about what was worn in gym in 1980.

It's never been about comfort with denim. It's about the weight.

It's 47 right now. That's at least a 3/4 zip with the breeze. It's comfortable, hell I might have 8-10 different ones, but those are too heavy.

It's like a lot of things in life, how one shops, spends their money, the clothes they wear. Everyone's comfort level is not the same.
Does everybody wear the same size hat?
