ABOUT ALABAMA
• Alabama has hit a tough stretch as of late, going 1-4 across the last five games. UA wrapped up last week with one win against a top-25 opponent, defeating 12th-ranked Auburn in Montgomery on Tuesday evening. The Crimson Tide then traveled to Gainesville to take on No. 15 Florida, falling in all three games, before suffering a midweek loss to Troy on Tuesday.
Drew Williamson put together a big week with a hot five-game stretch. The freshman batted .389 (7-18) with a double, his first career home run, one RBI, four runs scored, a walk and a stolen base. Williamson's five-game run made up part of his current 15-game reached base streak. The streak is currently the longest by any member of the Crimson Tide.
• A three-run eighth helped Alabama secure a 6-3 win over 12th-ranked Auburn in the annual MAX Capital City Classic on Tuesday evening in Montgomery. The victory was UA's first in the neutral site matchup since 2014.
• The Crimson Tide scored one in the second but was matched by Auburn in the top of the fourth. Alabama rallied in the bottom half of the fourth for a pair with AU countering once again with a run. The Tigers posted one more run in the seventh to tie things up for a short period of time before the Tide recorded three runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win.
• Leading the UA offense was Williamson who was named the game's Most Valuable Player. The freshman finished a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Senior Joe Breaux also contributed a multi-hit effort, finishing 2-for-3 with a double plus a team a team-high three RBI and two walks. The Crimson Tide utilized a season-high eight arms on the mound with Jeremy Randolph earning his first win of the season. The graduate tossed the final 2.1 scoreless innings, striking out two including the game's final out.
• A tight game between Alabama and Florida saw the 15th-ranked Gators come away with a 3-1 win on Friday evening at McKethan Stadium. Sam Finnerty suffered the loss, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks with a pair of strikeouts across his 4.0-plus innings of work. Finnerty saw his night end in the fifth when he ran into trouble, but redshirt freshman Chase Lee and junior Casey Cobb entered in relief, combining for the final 4.0 innings and keeping the UF offense at bay.
• Alabama suffered a 12-3 loss to Florida on Saturday. Home runs were the story of the game as the Gators tallied five with three solo shots and a pair of two-run homers to secure the series-clinching win.
• A solo home run by both teams made it a 1-1 game after two innings. The Gators tallied a solo shot in the first, followed by Williamson recording his first home run of the season in the next half inning to even things up. Florida then used three home runs in the third to make it a 5-1 contest. Two of the three roundtrippers were solo shots with the third going for two runs.
• The Crimson Tide scored two runs late but was unable to complete the comeback in a 6-3 loss in Gainesville on Sunday afternoon. Alabama jumped out front early with one in the second but was countered in the home half by a pair of Florida runs. The Gators added two more in both the fourth and the eighth to take a 6-1 lead.
• A two-out walk for junior Brett Auerbach in the ninth put one on for pinch-hitter T.J. Reeves. The freshman homered to straightaway center to narrow the gap to 6-3 and give the Tide life, but a groundout ended things in favor of Florida.
• The Tide's late rally came up short in an 8-4 loss to Troy on Tuesday evening. UA trailed 8-2 entering the bottom of the ninth. A hit-by-pitch followed by a two-run home run from junior John Trousdale moved the Tide to within four, but a pair of groundouts ended things in favor of the Trojans.

Baseball Secures Two Wins over South Carolina in Friday’s Doubleheader - University of Alabama Athletics

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama baseball earned a series win over South Carolina thanks to a pair of victories in Friday's doubleheader at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide first blanked the Gamecocks, 9-0, to start the day before a 4-1 victory in game two of the twinbill to clinch the series. With the two wins, the Tide is now 22-10 overall and 4-7 in Southeastern Conference play.

"This was just a really, really good day for us," said Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon. "It starts on the mound – Sam (Finnerty) and Brock (Love) were outstanding, and Jeremy (Randolph) did a great job in relief. We played really good defense like we have pretty much all year, and we did a much better job offensively at the plate; we strung some good at-bats together. It was a really good day all the way around for us."

The series win over South Carolina is the Tide's first at home since 2007 with Alabama going for the series sweep on Saturday afternoon at The Joe. The Crimson Tide will look to freshman Tyler Ras in the start while the Gamecocks have yet to name a starter. Fans can catch the series finale on SEC Network+.

GAME ONE
Sam Finnerty spun a complete game shutout in game one of Friday's doubleheader on the way to a 9-0 Alabama win.

Finnerty (5-3) tossed a career-long 9.0 innings, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out five. The senior used only 79 pitches on the way to the Crimson Tide's first complete game shutout since May 18 of last season when Jake Walters did so on Senior Night against Ole Miss. Finnerty's start was highlighted by a stretch in the middle of the game that saw him retire 16 straight Gamecock hitters.

The bats also came alive in game one with four players recording multi-hit performances, led by junior Tyler Gentry's 2-for-4 day that included a grand slam, a team-high four RBI and two runs scored. Fellow juniors Morgan McCullough and Brett Auerbach also contributed a pair of hits in addition to two RBI apiece, with McCullough adding two runs scored.

Alabama piled the runs on early, scoring nine across the first three frames. The Tide began the scoring with a three-spot in the first. Junior Kolby Robinson led the game off with a single and put himself in scoring position on a groundout. The extra base was useful, as a single in the next at-bat from McCullough brought in the game's first run. A single by Gentry then put two on before Auerbach cleared the bases with a double to left-center, making it a 3-0 game through one.

The Tide posted five runs in the second, highlighted by a grand slam from Gentry. A walk, hit-by-pitch and one more walk loaded the bases for McCullough. The junior sent an RBI-single to right, advancing everyone a station in the process. With the bases still packed, Gentry sent an 0-2 pitch deep to left to double UA's lead in one swing of the bat. Another ball left the yard in the third, this one from T.J. Reeves, with the freshman's solo shot making it a 9-0 game, the eventual final.

GAME TWO
The Crimson Tide came away with a 4-1 win in game two of the doubleheader thanks to another impressive performance on the mound.

Redshirt junior Brock Love (4-1) provided Alabama with a career-long 6.0 innings of work on the way to the win. Love allowed one run on three hits and a pair of walks while punching out eight across his 93 pitches of work. Jeremy Randolph (5) then took over, tossing the final 3.0 frames for his fifth save in as many chances. The graduate closer issued just two walks and struck out four to help the Tide secure the doubleheader sweep.

Alabama's offense was powered by the heart of the order with the 3-4-5 hitters combining to go 8-15 with two RBI and three runs scored. McCullough, who hit in the three spot, finished with a team-high tying three hits and led the Tide with two runs scored. Matching him on hits was Drew Williamson. The freshman tallied three hits, including a double, and added a team-leading two RBI to go with a run scored. Gentry, the four-hole hitter, recorded two hits to go with a run scored.

The two teams went scoreless until the fourth when the Tide was able to gain a three-run advantage. McCullough led off the frame with a single and was followed by a Gentry single to put two aboard. The duo moved into scoring position on a wild pitch before a single from Williamson moved everyone up 90 feet, scoring the game's first run.

Williamson then stole second to better his position before an Auerbach single crossed the second run. A fielder's choice in the next at-bat brought Williamson in to round out the scoring and make it a 3-0 Alabama lead after four innings of play.

The scoring stalled again until the seventh when a solo home run got the Gamecocks on the board. The Tide came right back with one run of its own in the home half thanks to an RBI-single from Williamson to make it a 4-1 affair. The Gamecocks reached the tying run in the eighth but a huge strikeout from Randolph ended the inning with the bases loaded. Alabama's closer then sat SC down in order 1-2-3 in the ninth to secure the save and the UA series win.

Baseball Falls in Extra Innings to South Carolina, 5-4 - University of Alabama Athletics

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – An extra-innings affair between Alabama baseball and South Carolina favored the Gamecocks, 5-4, as SC earned the Saturday victory in 12. Following the series finale, the Crimson Tide sits at 22-11 overall, 4-8 in Southeastern Conference play.

"It was obviously a really, really tough way to lose in a good college baseball game," said Alabama head coach Brad Bohannon. "I was really proud of the way our guys battled back after being down 4-0 in the second. Our bullpen was outstanding, putting up nine consecutive zeroes, which was huge and gave us a chance to get back in there. To their credit, (Brett) Kerry came in was outstanding. He just threw a bunch of strikes with all three of his pitches. South Carolina made some great defensive plays, and they were just able to do a little bit more than us."

The Crimson Tide was tasked with overcoming an early 4-0 deficit but was able to do so, scoring two in the third and two in the fifth to make it a 4-4 game after five innings. The Tide bullpen provided a commendable effort, keeping SC off the board from the third inning until the 12th. Alabama's relievers did not allow a hit from the fifth inning on, but a walk and two wild pitches in the final inning of play led South Carolina to the win.

Freshman reliever Brett Kerry (3-1) came away with the victory thanks to 5.2 scoreless innings of relief for the Gamecocks. Alabama's Deacon Medders (2-2) suffered the loss. The junior reliever tossed 3.0 frames and issued one walk while striking out four but was pinned with the SC go-ahead run.

South Carolina got out front first on Saturday, scoring two runs in both the first and second frames. The Crimson Tide was able to cut the lead in half in the third with a two-spot of its own. Alabama got things started with a one-out double from senior Joe Breaux. A hit-by-pitch in the next at-bat put two on for Keith Holcombe. The senior brought across both runners with a laser to the corner in right, making it 4-2 in favor of SC after three full.

The Crimson Tide knotted things up in the fifth, scoring two more to set things even at four. Freshman T.J. Reeves led things off with a single and was followed by a Breaux walk, putting two on to start the inning. A sacrifice bunt moved the pair into scoring position and forced an SC pitching change. The new Gamecock reliever recorded the inning's second out, but Morgan McCullough made him pay in the next at-bat. The junior sent the first pitch he saw to right field for a two-RBI single to bring in tying the runs and set the score at 4-4.

The two teams were then held off the board for the remained of regulation, sending the game to extras. A walk and two wild pitches would bring in the go-ahead run for SC in the 12th with the Tide going in order in the final half inning. Alabama had the winning run in scoring position in both the ninth and 10th but was unable to come away with the Saturday victory and series sweep.

Next up for Alabama is a short trip up the road to Birmingham to take on Samford on Tuesday, April 9. The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs are scheduled for a 6 p.m. CT first pitch at Joe Lee Griffin Field with the game airing live on SEC Network+.
