I don’t mind seeing Auburn get humbled by the Dukies. Interestingly, Auburn started 5 seniors. Duke started 3 freshmen, a junior and a senior (the senior just transferred in from Tulane). The youth is persevering this time.
I hope to leads to another fight on their airplane home and this time, the FAA puts the entire team and staff on the No Fly list and they have to bus everywhere else.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 10/12 Alabama men's basketball team picked up a dominant 94-79 road victory over No. 20/22 North Carolina Wednesday night in the SEC/ACC Challenge. The Crimson Tide played impressively from start-to-finish in picking up its third straight win over an Associated Press Top 25-ranked opponent this season.
Alabama (7-2) had six players score double figures led by Mark Sears' 20 points and game-high seven assists, while Aden Holloway and Labaron Philon each finished with 15 points. Clifford Omoruyi (11), Derrion Reid (11) and Grant Nelson (10) also reached double figures in the victory.
The Tar Heels (4-4) were led by Ian Jackson's game-high 23 points while RJ Davis added 18 in the losing effort.

"I thought our guys show a lot of toughness and resilience coming off a tough loss to Oregon and easily could have let that loss turn into two. I thought they got their minds right, ready to play and executed the defensive gameplan outside of transition buckets. I am super happy for these two guys (Houston Mallette and Labaron Philon) because Houston was unselfish enough to come off his redshirt and come in and we were plus-12 in his nine minutes, and he made two big three's. Jarin (Stevenson) was able to settle in and hit some big three's for us and did a great job on RJ Davis who is not easy to guard, he is one of the best guards in the country. For a kid that is supposed to be a freshman in college and 19 years old, I thought he (Stevenson) did a great job on RJ (Davis) as well as Houston and Derrion (Reid). Coach (Brian) Adams did a great job with the defensive gameplan and for the most part, we took care of the ball."
Alright, I have been debating on posting this for a few days. First, I am thankful we beat NC and dominated the game. Second, it was good seeing good ball movement and the defensive intensity.
IMO, I see Nelson as a huge liability on defense. He gets burnt badly on defensive switches and makes some really dumb fouls. I see his minutes going down in the future. I also admit, I may be 100% wrong.

...and is also the leading rebounder on the team; leading defensive rebounder on the team by a pretty large margin. (2nd on offense.)
I know, that’s what has me so perplexed about his playing time. Do we give up the rebounds for better offensive play and not as many fouls?

No. I wouldn't think so.
I don't think anyone in the back court has fouled out this season. Setting that aside, just under fifty percent of the fouls this year have come from the three in the back court.
It is my opinion it's too early to take a "deep look" at this. IE: While the schedule has definitely mattered, Bama is next to the last in the SEC in defensive rebounds.
I am a Grant Nelson fan so I may be biased but I much rather see him on the floor than on the bench. He's a scrapper and I love it.

Nelson is a better perimeter defender in my mind. he is good blocking from behind as well. I don't think he's the best down low defender I've ever seen, but he is one of the better ones we have at the moment. So I agree with you, but see where he benefits us away from the basket as a defender.

Nelson has actually played very well on D. He's not the fastest when he's trying to play tight on a player at the arc, so he has a tendency to get beat on drivers. But inside the paint, he's held his own and has forced multiple turnovers and gotten blocks. He gets probably the worst whistle in CBB when he is defending.
If his minutes decrease, it's only because Stevenson starts to showcase more consistency offensively. But Oats rewards players with more PT with better play on D and what you do away from the basket.

Reid, Dioubate, Nelson, Philon, and Holloway have been our best players so far this session. I'd throw Sherrell in there too, but he's not getting many minutes as of late. Sears will come around eventually. He'll filll up the stat sheet point wise, but he's got to stop turning the ball over.
The big one is we need Cliff to start playing to his potential. Teams were very hesitant to attack the basket when we had Bediako. His game vs Texas A&M in the SECT showcased how dangerous we can be with a true rim protector. Cliff has just got to come around mentally to be a dog inside.
We have a lot of length too, so it was shocking to me that UNC actually had 15 offensive rebounds yesterday. Fortunately they couldn't capitalize on second chance opportunities, but that's just something Alabama cannot allow to happen.
