šŸˆ Tide getting strong start to 2013 recruiting class

With less than 48 hours until National Signing Day 2012 begins, the University is well underway to filling its 2013 Class.

TUSCALOOSA – While most programs spent the weekend trying to finish harvesting their recruiting class before Wednesday’s National Signing Day, Alabama planted the seeds for a bumper crop in 2013 with its first Junior Day on Saturday.

The results were startling.

Alabama earned three verbal commitments from players who will be seniors in high school this fall, including coveted running back Altee Tenpenny of North Little Rock, Ark.

Later, wide receiver Raheem Falkins of New Orleans announced he would go to school in Tuscaloosa.
Most of the visitors this weekend were touted out-of-state prospects. However, all-purpose athlete ArDarius Stewart of Fultondale – one of the top-ranked juniors in the state of Alabama – also verbally committed on Saturday.

National Signing Day is Weds.

If you were to ask me about it a few weeks ago I would have given you the same answer I have for years. "Yes, I'm taking the day off."

However, there would be one thing that is different that say, back in 2009. I'd tell you "it's probably going to be a boring day."

In a sense it is. There isn't anything to look forward to Weds. We know who we are signing, the idiots in coaching positions who will remain unnamed took the fax girl away. Here I was thinking...guess I'll see who everyone else signs.

Until.

Just taking a cursory view around the SEC—in my head, I'm not going to actually find the exact numbers for this—I believe SEC teams have the following room left in terms of the 25:

AU - 9
UArk - 4 after this weekend?
UT - 5
UF - 6
LSU - 6, maybe 5?

Until I started looking at Alabama and the seven we have in place for 2013. It's possible we have between 13-17 slots available for next years class. With no doubt, it'll be smaller than the allowed. Realistically we might have half of our class in place at the end of next week; next years class. It's already littered with some outstanding players...might want to pay a little attention this year anyway.
