🏈 Thurs. nights Texas vs Iowa State game continues to entertain.

This was the first thing that jumped out at me about the write up on the game. Putting my finding the following quote in a time frame reference, I'd just heard the FS1 report on the game—prolly around 4AM EST.

“One of the trademarks of our football teams have been comeback wins, especially in close games like this,” Brown said. “I’m so proud of our guys.”

All I could say was WOW. You'll see why that reaction shocked me because TX got another one of those "missed/blown" calls. I thought about what it must be like to be a Texas fan: how hollow does this W feel?

So I went and look for video of the fumble. You be the judge.

All I'm left thinking about now is whether or not we see the Big12's head official send a letter of apology to Iowa State. (See Okie State last year.)

As the day continues now I run across this.

Davis took a cheap shot the likes of which I haven't seen since Nick Fairly left the barn.

The call at the goal line re the fumble is an epic bad call.

Awful game. Should've been an Iowa State win. Also, that 97 yard pass TD from the ISU endzone was pretty awesome, it was a school record.

I saw that after the game, dude lost his mind (for good reason).

The Utah/UCLA game was really good tho.

I didn't really pay attention to the game much, but did the official blow the whistle to call the play down before the ball came out? I can see why the ISU coach was upset though. They had them stopped and did everything in that game to beat Texas, and the officials give Texas a pass. Terrible terrible game if you're a Cyclones fan.

When ESPN re-ran the play I heard the whistle, after ISU had gained posession.

Did anyone see the horrible call in the Texas-IowaSt game Thursday night?

After reading an ESPN article on Rhoads' post-game explosion over the bad call and listening to Robert Smith's comments, I am struck by I've not heard anyone address the critical point: the whistle blew AFTER the ball was stripped! Robert Smith's BS explanation doesn't account for this. Another bazarre thing is the Pollack, Palmer, and Rece Davis were all conspicuously reluctant to even admit their dissent with the official's call and after mildly doing so, never brought it up again. Really weird because, I don't know, it was sort of significant.

I felt so bad for Iowa St and Rhodes.

Agree with the first thing, not so much the second thing. Yeah, he was ranting, but this wasn't a Mike Gundy "I'm a man!" meltdown. His kids played their tails off and screwed over by incompetent officiating.

Probably because nobody cares about Iowa State, and everybody loves Texas, to put it bluntly. If it had been the other way around (Iowa State winning the game against Texas because of a terrible call), the media would be all over it. I really feel for the Cyclones. And to have that happen in their own house, that sucks :thumbsdown:

If by "under the ESPN banner" you mean owned by ESPN, you're right.

It's another turnkey operation, with UT outsourcing all production and distribution to ESPN. IMG College still manages the rights and gets 17% of the deal as the sales and marketing director. Texas has no ownership in the network; they are just obligated to provide content.
