📣 👍👍 (UPDATED 3/5) NEW FEATURE: "If I could give you two thumbs up, I would!" Introducing "Reactions" and "Reactions Score."

As you've probably seen over the last week or so we've also upgraded the "Like's" system we had in place with our last platform and have moved to a new "Reactions" scoring system.

A few things to point out about the new features:

REACTIONS:

If you're on a mobile device, if you'll hold your finger/cursor over the "Like" button you'll see the additional options displayed. If you're on laptop or desktop, placing your cursor over the "Like" symbol will also activate the pop-up.

You're now given six different option on reacting to threads and posts. These are "weighted" as well offering different point values depending on your selection.

REACTION SCORE:

As we continue to add new features and options for members we'll also be instituting different permissions along the way. A portion of the permissions granted will be based off of reaction scores.

Your reaction score is listed in your user info box directly under your username. It's activated by the drop down arrow.

As always...questions and comments are welcomed.

If a user posts a news item where the participants did something stupid (a player leaves a team in mid-season) or the behavior is abominable (beats/kills a pet, hurts small children) the unhappy face is usually directed at the act, not the poster. I don't want to give a thumbs up to that kind of post.

That's a good point. If I'm reading this correctly there should be an option to click and 'upset' type of reaction but it not be a negative value, or down vote? Or, a thank you for the link type of action?

Will you be sponsoring a facetious emoji? I fear I'm being somewhat misunderstood, or not.
I copied this post here just to keep it fresh on my mind...and update it, so to speak.

I'm still mulling this over. It's a good idea as well. That said, it seems these would convey the same 'meaning,' wouldn't they?

I'll continue to see if there's something that works better.

Correct. Everyone has an opinion and forums like this allow for people to give an opinion. If I disagree with an opinion I'll say so. I don't want to give a negative score because they gave their viewpoint (isn't that called communism?).

UPDATE AS OF 3/5:

Following your suggestion here...

You'll see one more that I added this morning. This has a neutral value (+/- 0) and gives us the option you recommended.

Again, good idea OP!

Not sure how the thumbs down icon will be universally accepted in BamaLand, emotionally speaking. A lot of folks can dish them not everyone is built to accept them. And just trying to be as logical about it as I can, why is that one really needed? From experience, when the dislike button was integrated into the thread, often beside the like button, some would always just fire them off and never comment as to why. Mods often ended up taking them off.

If someone disagrees or is offering a counterpoint, big deal. If someone disagrees, let them be specific about their own argument in their rebuttal. It's up to each person to disagree without being disagreeable. Some of this stuff can come off as hit and run and that can't be great for crimson morale in among the masses.
