If you've ever wondered why you don't see practice reports where the beat writers talk about what's going on with the kicking game here's your answer. They aren't allowed to watch...or, if we want to be politically correct when they're working out the media isn't around. But neither is the rest of the team, but that's a rant I'm sure I'll go on later in this thread.

I know a lot will be a part of the "I'll believe it when I see it" crowd on punting. Has Skylar gotten over his mental derps? Last year he had a strong leg in practice and he does this year. Saturday he had some good punts during the scrimmage. Pressure situations. Now, I don't remember hearing he did well in pressure situations in scrimmages last year, do you?

So ... Reichard had his derps but settled down as things went on during the same scrimmage.

Putting all of that together that's the two man crew this season.

Nick and his ST coach had a good scheme in having Bernier kick to the hashmark (actually closer to the sideline) on his left side most all of the time. A 35 yarder with no return isn't a bad plan if that is all the punter is capable of getting out of a boot.

Let's hope it's a sign our one-year punting slump is over. After JK Scott, last season was like going from a .44 magnum to a peashooter.

Not saying much here but Bernier was at least semi-consistent. I don't know if I will be able to watch punts this year if i continue to be able to count 4 or 5 "mississippi" before the ball is kicked

I'm still baffled that Alabama can't seem to find the consistency in our kicking game. Especially, kicking field goals. Hopefully, the punting will be good and consistent.
