🏈 Three SEC teams among those hardest hit by early entrees in NFL draft, 2016

9. Ole Miss: The players who comprised the nucleus of Hugh Freeze's epic 2013 recruiting class are all doing three-and-outs. Former No. 1 overall recruit DL Robert Nkemdiche, who caused a ton of havoc at the line of scrimmage, is gone, although his final days in college football were actually quite stormy. The tougher pieces to replace are star WR Laquon Treadwell, who dazzled all season, and LT Laremy Tunsil, who did miss a bunch of the season because of a seven-game NCAA suspension. Folks in Oxford are hopeful that top 2016 recruit Greg Little can come in and take over for Tunsil. That is a lot to ask of a true freshman O-lineman, but as we noted this summer, coaches who have worked with Little rave about how polished he already is.

Okay, Bruce. What were you watching on Saturday's this fall? It certainly wasn't Ole Miss or Nkemdiche.

Tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks ... three areas we can look to and make a pretty solid judgment on how a player did in a season, right?

Tackles: Nkemdiche not ranked. Tackles for loss: Nkemdiche, not ranked. Sacks: Nkemdiche, not ranked. And, before anyone starts saying, "he mailed it in in 2015-'16" ... he wasn't ranked in any of those three categories in 2014-'15 either.

He certainly had the potential to cause a lot of havoc ... he certainly didn't live up to his potential.

I would disagree to a certain degree... while those stats are a good measure to look at, you have to keep in mind that sometimes the "star" player is double or tripled team or they run away from him. His impact can be huge and have very low "stats"... just saying. Go back and watch the Bama game and I think you'll see how import he was to that Dline.

Nkemdiche had a good game against Bama recording a total of six tackles. He had a hell of a game against Memphis when he had zero. Zero. Florida and Arkansas, one.

He certaintly looks like he has the ability to wreak havoc ... but, to me, he's nothing more than Clowney 2.0. Playing a couple of games well certainly doesn't garner a lot of admiration on my end (which certainly is biased.)

Yeah, I agree with TerryP on this one. This guy was labeled "a once in a generation player". Sure, big dude that put on some size in college, but he did not live up to the hype or to his ability. He got in his own way by being a drug addict like his brother and his lack of a motor/heart. He went from sure fire #1 pick to not knowing where the hell he was going to fall. Had a good game against us, but anyone can get up for one game, especially when they exploit a weakness like he did in Kelly that night. A'Shawn blows this dude out of the water.
