šŸ“” Three, maybe four, true freshman indefinitely suspended from A&M.

IMO we are seeing the beginning of the NIL disaster. Some players are now more interested in the prestige and money than getting an education, playing college football, and getting to the NFL. Sure, players have been getting suspended and kicked off of teams for decades but it's about to be more the norm. No top college football program is going to be excluded.

I think A&M's approach to NIL and this last class is pretty distinct from how everyone else operated. That's why you are seeing stuff happen there that isn't happening everywhere else. It was fairly predictable.

This appears to be getting better. Some A&M Players are reportedly skipping practices now and looking to the portal. A&M isn't killing the NIL, but they are definitely killing the idea that throwing NIL money around isn't going to lead to entitled players who think they can do what they want to do.

tamu was given an inch and ran a mile with it. You're right; perhaps something good re: NIL will come because of this blowing up in the boosters' faces.

Agree. This is less about players making money based on their performance and more about throwing money at them just to get a recruiting ranking title. The right coach may be able to control that, but it takes a lot.

I still expect boosters to try to interfere in some places and think they can buy a good team. You can't get them away from A&M, Auburn, and a couple of other teams no matter how hard you try. Bama boosters would probably do it were it not for strong leadership at the school and the teams already winning keeping them in check.

As we saw about twenty-five years ago...
