Out of the P5 conferences, any one of three potential games that could be upsets would put teams with three and four losses in the playoffs IF this notion about conference champs deserve an invitation continues.
Hypothetically...
A Pitt upset in the ACC would mean a four loss team in the playoff. Pitt is currently 5-4.
A Northwestern win in the B1G would mean the same thing--NW is currently a four loss team.
If the Utes were to beat Wazzou in the PAC CG it would mean a three loss team is in.
None of these scenarios are likely with the committee's focus being on the best four teams. But, if we end up going down the path we see some continue to suggest do we really want to see the playoffs "dumbed down" to the same extent we're seeing the bowl games become irrelevant? A four loss team in the playoffs, even if it were eight teams, would certainly do that.
