🏈 Think about what this team just accomplished

They won the National Title for the 5th time in 9 years.
While missing 2 of Top 3 MLBs in SDH and Dylan Moses.
Then the starting RG and our best OLB get hurt in the Sugar Bowl and miss the National Title Game.
Then we lost our best OL and LT right after halftime.
Then we went with a True Fr. QB who hadn't played more than a half since October and a pick six against uT.
Yet, Bama won their 5th National Championship in 9 years. Oh yeah, several of our coaches were looking for jobs instead of recruiting.
Some people are fretting that we didn't get a few players.
Roll Tide guys. We have the players that can provide immediate depth that will lead our repeat.

It was the development of the DL that was maybe the most surprising to me. As LBers all season dropped like canaries in a poisoned coalmine, it was primarily Payne, Davis, Buggs, Frazier, Hand that was steady as she goes in stopping the run and made improvements in getting to the QB as the season progressed. I thought Dunbar got out of them everything they had to offer.

After the spring game, I did fear there was going to be a dropoff at one of our corner positions. And had not a certain "Technician" come through and saved our bacon in the FSU game and really all year, it was going to get plenty dicey back there. What a great accomplishment by a walkon that will probably always be somewhat overlooked for his steady contribution. I know I'm not inclined, nor will I ever be, from here on out to say many nice things about our former DC, but he called some great games, kept the pressure on and gave us a chance in every game in spite of all the mix and matching going on.

In short, except for the second half of the Georgia game, most of the miracles for this championship team were happening on the defensive side of the ball. They were simply great.
