🏈 There's a misleading number on returning starters for Bama this year...

I've seen multiple reports calling the number at eight on defense. If we look at it realistically, it's really only one we lost, Dareus. Most of the services are calling Davis and Williams as starters lost. It's really just not the case.

Dareus, Mark, Greg, Preston and Julio is how I see it.

That's 17 returning starters in my eyes...from a pretty solid football team.

i agree.. if our qb situation turns out to be adequate we could be dominate team.. the D could be scary good next year..

i was looking at the roster and i think i counted 31 juniors.. with the people giving us crap about over signing, it seems like we will almost have to over sign in some way to fill our scholarships next year..

Terry, I think I remember you posting something good re Arie's progress this fall. Do you think he could be a factor at LT? I have heard that for all that big frame we've had trouble putting weight on Tyler Love, which has kept him off the field. Have you heard anything regarding that?

Porter?

I too am anxious to see what transpires at the LT position. I know that we have numerous candidates on campus that want the spot. I'm sure that Coach Stoutland will get it all straightened out. I'm sure Coach Pendry left plenty of notes and film for him to study. Stoutland probably already has Pendry on speed dial if needed!

Carpenter will be missed greatly. He quietly went about his business and did a phenomenal job at it. He did everything he wanted to do in coming to Alabama. He said after accepting the scholarship offer to UA that he wanted to fill the big shoes left by Smitty. I don't think we missed a step after big ol' 77 stepped in.

It makes me wonder about the possibility of Aaron Douglas stepping in at that slot. I have no idea, but I do know this. Saban and staff do NOT offer JUCO's unless they feel they can contribute from day one. Should be an interesting spring with all the guys Jockeying for position.

Heck, Pendry's new office is right down the hall...

BUT, considering what success Stoutland's had in his past stops, I doubt he'll need a lot of "coaching."
