“Their tour is meaningless." Nick Faldo rips LIV golf, their ratings, Greg..."

On the CW deal that's mentioned.

You'll still have to stream Friday's action, but Saturday and Sunday will be on their channel. (Safe to say, "broadcast TV?")

I've never watched a round for a lot of reasons. Even on CW, what am I giving up to pay attention to LIV?

I can't recall your stance on LIV. I feel like you've led on to a little here, but would you mind refreshing my mind on your thoughts?

This is sort of a loaded question. That's not because of the answer, it's the number of answers.

I like some golfers over others. We all do. So, when I look over the LIV roster I see more I have no interest in seeing play (Reed, Dechambeau are two among a few) and only find a couple I've actually "rooted" for in tournaments. I was sad to see Bubba leave the PGA Tour and don't give a damn about Sergio.

I don't like "no cuts."

Their platform to broadcast events on YouTube doesn't work for me. IE: If I'm watching Bama I'm not going to be streaming YouTube on a computer, through their App on one of the TV's, or casting the broadcast. That's going to take up one of my screens. I'll often have three events running, not to mention Statbroadcast, and then at least one tab opened here. In the vein of "No soup for you," "No room for them."

I get, and can't fault, the "let's go for the money."

I do believe, at least at this point in time, it's weakened the PGA and hasn't added anything to the game.

Side note:

I've never been a fan of Greg Norman. 25 years ago I did play with the Norman line of Shark golf balls. What I didn't realize until just now is what they were worth today. I have two 15 packs with the box still wrapped. I've just never thrown them away (like the 400+ balls I've picked up over the years sitting in the closet.)

I hear you. I have no issues with LIV. They are having to pay for it, but they are getting some guys where they can create a tournament. I like Cameron Smith, so it stinks not getting to see him play much anymore. Dustin Johnson can still play really well, so it stinks not getting to see him on TV as much.

You bring up a good point about being able to watch these guys. I am pretty straight forward technological wise and don't have all of the firesticks, Hulu, Roku, Netflix and all of that, so it makes it a challenge to watch these guys. That being said, if they are on TV, I'd definitely watch.

It has weakened the PGA and I think exposed them for how they compensate and treat their players compared to the story they've tried to spin for years. I find it funny all of a sudden they are finding all of this extra money to entice players to stay and offering larger bonuses and such for those that can increase their ratings for them. Everybody thought the PGA was some lily white and great governing body just because it's a gentlemen's game, quiet, and guys make lots of money, but behind the scenes they are pretty shitty. That's why I don't mind LIV as much because they are forcing the PGA's hand due to other options that could cause them a lot more damage than they already have. It's pretty fun to watch unfold to be honest.

I don't like how they tried to ride Rory and Justin as their lynchpin to hold their fight together. It came across as nasty and to be honest made those two look like cry babies. Thomas has stepped back from a lot of it, and I can understand his side as his family has deep roots with the PGA, but Rory is now kicking up the dust again with it all and it just looks petty in the scheme of things. One last thing I will say about LIV is that when I did watch it was cool to see golf clubs from around the world each tournament and not just one every six months like the PGA broadcasts.

That being said, if they are on TV, I'd definitely watch.
This goes back to what I've been saying: something @rocknthefreeworld talks about earlier.

On a Sunday afternoon are you going to turn your TV over to the CW channel instead of watching a softball, or baseball, game?

Their inclusion in the TV broadcasts available end up as an intrusion on what I watch. 🤷‍♂️

Could take time, but it wouldn't shock me if they see decent ratings and other broadcasts start picking them up and sponsorships start to garner more attention. I mean how much longer can "blood money" keep being used against them while the PGA continues to take Chinese sponsorships and allowing them to be seen on televisions across the world?

It's the CW. Last year they were in the top 25 of most viewed networks—at #25. They saw almost a 30% drop in viewership last year. They need something.

I had to look at their site to see what programming they offered. I only see one I would watch; from 2015.

I love golf and enjoy playing and watching, but there’s nobody that plays on the LIV tour that I’d want to switch over to the CW to watch.

I don’t blame them for chasing the money, but victimhood some of them and Norman try and play is silly. I also don’t blame the PGA for not allowing them to maintain membership in the tour while also being on LIV.

Do we blame the College athletes for chasing the NIL money? Just asking for all of the money chasers of the World.

Roll Tide!

I feel as long as you consider it an amateur sports, then they shouldn't. They want everything free without having to pay for anything. Even the NFL doesn't get that. These guys are being paid for their talent, but not having to pay for medical, food, housing, anything!
