Couple of notes:
A saw a post the other day from someone I've read for a few years now. I don't know him, but he's always been a pretty straight shooter on different topics. Definitely not one of those off his rocker. He said he heard an interview with Robinson the other day and when asked which school would have to vacate the title game first, Oregon or Auburn, he said, "flip a coin."
I don't know if it is true or not.
I included this in the thread about Oregon a few days ago. It's a copy and paste of another persons post, but it is interesting to say the least. Take a minute and look over it...the person was implying it's Auburn, but he's only using what Robinson was talking about at the time in his columns versus what he said on the radio.
Yes, the Tressel stuff was categorized an eight—that's how I remember it, not seven—and he said their were two stories coming up. The next one, Oregon based on the timing, was on the same scale. The one in the fall a ten.
The only thing I've heard about TX was the report and subsequent comments following something Colt McCoy's girlfriend had made about some players getting different things than others. That's true at any school. Now, are some of the players she referred to getting illegal benefits?
I don't know if that's true or not.
I've been told quite a bit but it's not something I wanted on this forum. Hell, you look at other forums and it's all about the "Boom" when it comes to Auburn. It certainly seems NO ONE has learned a lesson. How long were we under investigation before the NOA was sent? Several years. How long on the west coast with USC? Several years. I kept saying—I know I said it enough here that I'd run through all my fingers and toes counting the number of times—USC is going to get sanctioned. Wait.
I've heard from several people that I consider to be influential alums from Auburn and it's about a 50/50 vibe I'm getting. One side is very nervous, the other side continues to claim, "where's the proof?"
I don't know how far, if at all, the NCAA will pursue the allegations of impropriety at Auburn.
I do know, and I have no problems saying so, that I've followed the Colonial Bank story more closely than Cam, HBO 4, etc. And, I know there has been some very shady actions by that group over the last few months. I could easily point fingers and name names. But, I don't want my name linked with any of this. I'll say this. Look no further than Lowder's former attorney, Jack Miller (now passed,) if you'd like. They DO NOT want Miller's sect. on the stand. This is not a story people have talked about in speculation, it's one that family members have relayed on a personal basis. Pretty damn strong source, eh?
LSU has had some issues with recruiting. We are less than two years away from them firing their recruiting coordinator due to some of his actions. Of couse, LSU along with a few other schools are linked to the South Florida story.
FSU has some rumblings going on right now as well. It's not something on Boom, but something on one of his assistants recruiting practices; Craig.
FWIW, I heard Brooks on the radio this morning. He's a very articulate guy, seems well educated. But, we definitely see things differently on a few subjects concerning the NCAA, collegiate athletics, the student athlete, pay for play, etc.
I'll have to say. As young as SBB is he's done a pretty darn good job building it...
