The Southeastern Conference has seen heightened quarterback play over the past few seasons, and 2019 should be a strong one for the league's signal-callers. The likes of Drew Lock and Nick Fitzgerald are gone, but there are still several high profile quarterbacks returning, and an experienced veteran entering the league.

Here are the top five quarterbacks in the SEC for 2019:

1. Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama

Tua is without question the SEC’s top returning quarterback. The left-handed Hawaiian was the runner-up for this year’s Heisman Trophy and put up gaudy numbers despite not playing in the fourth quarter of a game until November. He had a rough finish to the year against Georgia and Clemson, but still threw 43 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions. Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence might be next season’s early favorite to win the Heisman, but expect Tagovailoa to make a run at a return trip to New York, one he might take home some hardware from.

2. Jake Fromm, Georgia

Fromm has been quite successful, compiling a 23-5 record thus far, and potentially has two more years as the Bulldogs' starter. He has grown as a passer throwing for 30 touchdowns this season. Moving into his junior year, he will be eyeing to get back to the big stage after his second-half let down against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game was a contributing factor of the Bulldogs being bounced from CFP contention on the final weekend. Still, Fromm is not only a great player, but an exceptional leader for his team.

3. Kelly Bryant, Missouri

The Tigers seemed to be in trouble losing one of the school’s all-time greatest players Drew Lock, until they signed graduate transfer Kelly Bryant from Clemson. Bryant led Clemson to the CFP in 2017 and has experience against the SEC, taking down Texas A&M at Kyle Field last season. He’s the new kid on the block, but likely won’t play like it, and his added presence could keep Missouri in contention for the SEC East crown in 2019.

4. Kellen Mond, Texas A&M

Mond showed exceptional improvement in 2018 as the Aggies’ full-time starter. He progressed in his downfield passing and decision making, throwing for more than 3,000 yards. Having grasped Jimbo Fisher’s complex offense, Mond should only continue to enhance his game, both as a passer and a runner. The Aggies will need him to be even more poised in 2019 as their offense has holes to fill, but has the potential to be even better and a unit that will be centered around Mond.

5. Joe Burrow, LSU

Burrow took the Tigers’ starting quarterback spot head on in 2018 after transferring in from Ohio State and will be back in Baton Rouge for one more year in 2019. Burrow only threw for 16 touchdowns, but surprised with his legs rushing for 399 yards and seven scores. LSU has seemingly been missing an elite quarterback in its offense in recent years, which has hindered them, but Burrow may provide the Tigers their answer to make a run at the SEC West crown and the CFP.

Joe Burrow is #5? Are there no other really good QBs in the SEC? Burrow > Franks? Well...

It was either PTI or Around the Horn yesterday, the talking heads were talking about the Dolphins tanking in '19 to draft Tua. Nice compliment from those guys.

At this point, we're only dealing with the known quantities in the SEC. I would give Joe Burrow lots of praise for his efforts this past season. He proved his toughness and leadership vs UCF when he was lite up and continued to keep the tigers moving despite a depleted roster and getting behind early. Guys like Drew Lock come with all the flash and press clippings and game after game against the elite teams they fold like a cheap tent.

Not agreat year for SEC QBs....based on that list....
The Heisman front runner list will be more interesting....
TUA
Hurts ( Oklahoma QB)
Clemson QB...
uGA QB
Missouri QB...Bryant
Probably others

Don't forget Trey Sanders. He said he would at least be a finalist his freshman year!

Never seen someone on special teams and back up RB win Heisman...
But i hope he does
