šŸŒŽ State of The Union Address

When transcripts became easily accessible online I stopped watching the address live. Simple, really. I can read an hour long speech in 3/4's of the time or less. I'll look up the transcript sometime tomorrow.

I'll likely watch the D response afterwards. I'm interested to see what the "dog walking tax" Govenor is going to say. I will suggest to say 'circus' would be her "moving on up, to the east side..."

Same here, I'll glide through the transcript.

Ten minutes, wading through the fluff...typical Trump speech.
Or typical SOTU speech?

What part of the content did you consider "fluff?" I mean, other than Ilan making a lot of "Guys for Harris" hard? (Just found that story two, three minutes ago.)

I'll get to it later this morning. I was just surfin' around while doin' a cuppa/muffin thing. As smoothly as today is going at this point I may wait until tomorrow just to "ride the wave."

I suspect all of those are true with the exception of a few. Epstein, being one. I'm going to guess the nickname bit as the other. Rigged? I doubt that one as well. My gut tells me Iran won't come up because it's foreign policy and not something we've seen a lot of back and forth with on the Capital. At least to my knowledge.

Some of these I've never thought much about. The First Lady in attendance? I guess though it's not a big deal in the grander scheme of things. I couldn't tell you if ANY of the ones in my lifetime have attended.

Almost all of it. I'll not go back through it, it was only worth that ten minutes of quick review. Nothing of building issues - AI, Iran, etc.
Geez, been writing that response to Mike for almost an hour now. I was right about Iran. Okay.

Outside of of the SOTU speech following 9-11, has foreign policy been a consistent topic in these addresses? I can't recall.

What would you have liked to have heard about AI?

I've always considered this address as a resume of sorts. "This is what we've done in the past year." I've also considered it a situation where the next year is addressed. If half of the things mentioned on that Bingo card were addressed in the speech, that was fulfilled as well.

It is a lot of fluff and grandstanding but, like you said, kinda what the speech was supposed to be. Here's what we've accomplished, here's what they screwed up, make sure you vote for us in the mid terms so we don't go back to that.

Wife wanted to watch it so watched most of it. I like the majority of trump's policies but usually hate watching him speak. I thought it was one of the better speeches he's done, not near as much rambling and topic jumping as usual.

Based on what little I've seen I think I'll end up watching parts of it (if not the whole thing.) Simply because I want to see his body language.

It seems every thing that could come up this morning has and I have no complaints. Other than my sitting here commenting with little knowledge on what was said last night.

(Termite guy shows up and I had it marked for 3/25 on my calendar. No complaints other than he never shuts up. Good guy...but I'm going to lose an hour here.)

I'm beginning to like this "question before you watch" thing.

How much of the address reflected the reasons he won the popular vote? Or, the swing states?

A lot, open borders, the mess dems left, economy is getting better, voter ID, citizens before illegals, etc. It was a decent recap of accomplishments, couple of military awards( The old man who was awarded the MoH is a helluva story, he deserved it) and a lot of why we should continue to vote republican, protecting Medicare and social security, fraud task force, etc. Obvious attempt to keep power in the mid terms done surprisingly well for him imo.

To me the best part of his speech was went he presented the CW with the Medal of Honor, then he did it to the 100 year old Veteran. You can get out of the military but the military never get out of you!! I will tell you it brought this 71 year old a tear in hid eye.

Same Rick. Man had a helluva story and couldn't, seems didn't, tell it. These days they would've written a book about it for personal gain but he just did his job. Much respect.

Did everyone stand and applause?

Yes. Democrats stood a few times at this one, though not when he called them idiots....
I'm going to watch this. I swear.

I got a gig with the rights to Helen Stellar "IO (This Time Around.)" It's a commercial for a book on management...the song has me. I knew it...but so damn fun to work with here.

Again, opinions with no basis.
